It's my first smartphone and I already know the interface.

I didn't want to get something I would be struggling to learn- I also already have a bunch of apps that I can just download onto my phone.

I also didn't want a huge phone- I have small hands. I almost went with the 4s instead of the 5 because of size but ultimately decided I would be happier with the 5 in the long run.

This thread is funny because it assumes that was the choice being made. Honestly, there are many phones I would choose over the s3, which is not and never has been on my radar. 4.8" is an absolute deal breaker IMO. Something that size is not what I want, regardless of any other factor. The s4 is supposed to be 5" I think. I really don't get it, but to each his own.

Screen size. You can't use anything > 4 inches one-handed. People don't realize this until after they migrate to an S3. Users migrating from an S3 to an iphone may not care as much however.

Physical Home button. Only the new software home/back buttons on the nexus devices makes any sense. Otherwise there is no place you can grab the phone and not worry about touching a home or back button. You need physical space on all 4 sides of the device to pick it up with confidence. It's beyond annoying and not something you get used to. It's basic user experience 101, and only with the software navigation buttons is Android moving around to fixing this. And the back button still functions abysmally.

Lower quality of apps. Very few are developing for Android first. Even the big boys.
