Impressive! Care to post instructions? :)

Forget that, how the heck do i find a guy that doesn't think i'm a freak because i like this kinda stuff???? :D I'll say yes, if he will buy me one! LOL!!

(i'm in the middle of a nasty divorce, and my interest in computers is a topic... never mind that i was working in a computer lab when we met - it's ALWAYS been a part of me)

You know the software already, it's on the iPod Touch. It's one big compromise after another.

You have no way of knowing that.
It's certainly not going to be vanilla iPhone OSX.

At 999$, the 13" Macbook makes much more sense. This tells me Apple won't sell a 999$ 10" Tablet.

I don't care what price it is. I'll buy it anyway because one thing I do know - it will be better than any other tablet out there. I'm one of those rare MacBook Air users.

Wayyy off topic.

Well, "you have no way of knowing that" either.

I think it would be disastrous for them to base it on the iPhone OS, but with all this talk of "make sure your apps are appropriate on a bigger screen," who knows. Anyway, there sure is a lot of "it's certainly going to be this" and "it absolutely won't have that" on these forums... until they release it, none of you know anything.

Yes, yes I do. :) And what's more, you'll see Dual 2.2GHz ARM Cortex A9 MPCore in the coming weeks. :) You heard it here :D

They're not going to release a tablet with 320x480 resolution. Therefore it's not going to be plain ol' iPhone OS which is filled with bitmaps for a 320x480 screen. We know that.

As for specifics - no-one wasting their time here knows anything truly concrete about the final implementation.

So what? It's just a bit of fun.

True....

I live next to a retirement community - i'm not sure i want to hang out with the geeks up there :D

ANYWAY.... back on track.... the $1000 price point will rule me out. Which won't stop me from wanting one - just stop one from entering the house.

Folders and app organizing on the Slate. Gee, I need that on the Touch!

Well, "plain ol' iPhone OS" to me means the functionality of the device. It may be higher res, but if it does no more than what I can already do on my iPhone (but at higher resolution), then that to me is "plain ol' iPhone OS."

No, but there's a difference between "wouldn't it be great if it had..." and "it will absolutely not have..."

Well, it's absolutely not going to have

a) a projector
b) a hard drive at 4200rpm
c) a 10/100/1000 ethernet port...

Actually, I'm betting the "make sure your apps are appropriate for a higher resolution screen" (not bigger, bigger means nothing, it's all about pixels) is because the next iPhone will have a 854x480 screen.

So the next iPhone won't run iPhone OS ? No, UIkit can already scale your views with no problem to different resolutions and adjust every control properly. This has been part of every GUI design in the last 15 years.

If devs are being lazy and designing things for 480x320, that's their problem, and the next iPhone will bite them with its 854x480 screen.

That would be tremendously sweet. iPhone 3G HD. Heard it here first.

I didn't say it was as big as a DVD jewel case. I said "It's a fair amount smaller than a DVD case". Trim that fair amount off, and I bet it would fit- even in your little pockets.

My phone, which is about iPhone sized, fits snuggly in every pocket I have. I don't wear G-Unit type jeans.

Exsqueeze me?

If it doesn't, it's going to be left behind. About every announced smartphone for 2010 is using a 854x480 screen.

Minimum HD resolution is 720 pixels tall. That wouldn't hit HD by a long shot.

Still, a higher resolution iPhone would be very nice. (Higher resolution laptop screens would be nice, too, but they've been ignoring that request for ages...)

Fine. iPhone 3G ED.

I don't know what G-Unit type jeans are, but I am 6'5" and fairly lean (far from fat). I just tried it and I actually can fit a full DVD case in my front (normal Levi) jeans pockets, so a 7" diagonal screen (smaller than a DVD case) would easily fit too. On the flipside, a phone barely bigger than a deck of cards is freaking small from my perspective, unless proportionally, it is the right size- or even big- for your size.

Forget about this for video consumption. No way you're gonna have tinny little speakers on that thing? Of course you could plug the audio out into real speakers but then you're defeating the purpose of the portable iTablet. If Apple is hoping to position this as a media consumption device, FAIL FAIL FAIL.
