I would scarf this laptop up! What is your dream laptop?

Aluminum 12/13/15 inch MacBook Pro /3.06 GHz 4GB/High resolution HD matte screen/ Nividia 8600MGT graphics card at 512 mb/ 1TB HD/ large multi-touch pad / slot loading blu-ray dvd drive, 400/800 firewire port deliverable this year- 2008
:apple:

i think we JUST had a thread like this...

but i just looked, and now i cant find it...weird...anyway i say

15" Nehalem Quad core MBP

ok, wait, OP your request doesnt make sense, we're going to be way past the 8600 by the time 1tb notebook drives come out, try 9800GT :D

and with nehalem it could be a long time before they get back up to 3.06 because they clock speeds are going to drop, a 3.06 penryn is going to be something like 2.4 in nehalem

and i swear i said the same thing to someone else, and now im thinking it was in this same post, which really doesnt make any sense since it says it was posted today...i think i need to go to bed im having serious dejavu

so sorry if a recent repeat...

.. but I could not find a similar threat:). I do say that i would take a 17 inch for the screen real estate before a 15 inch machine.:apple:

I was thinking this too...
thought I'd want a decent, if not high-end video card, suitable for 3D work, the 8600MGT is a little toooo slooooooooooooooooow...

BTO video card option would be nice...

like i said, dont worry, by the time we get to nehalem(about a year), we'll have something better than the 8600, either a 8800 or a mid range 9xxx card, or maybe a HD3850 mobile chip

-13.3" notebook for small size
-anodized aluminium casing in black with silver keyboard and display bezel (If it wasn't manufactured like that, I'd mod it myself)
-4 pounds (MacBook is a touch on the heavy side)
-FW800 (I like speed)
-instead of an optical drive, a second, flash-based HDD to store the OS and commonly used apps (Photoshop, iTunes, Aperture, Safari) to make things a bit quicker (I never use the optical drive anyway, and when I do, I'm sitting at a desk. I can cope with an external superdrive)
-a graphics card (so Aperture runs properly, and so I can drive a big screen)
-Whatever CPU is recent
-backlit keyboard

well, that depends on if we are being realists here or not :D

If we are truly talking about dream machines, I would like a Macbook pro 16" (yes, thats right) glossy 1920 x 1080 native resolution LCD, 16GB of RAM, a decabyte hard drive, 2GB of VRAM, 4.37 GHZ Core 3 Duo processor, USB 3.0, firewire 1600, 802.11u networking, Terabit ethernet, bluetooth 3.0, Bluray 2.0 slotloading burner w/ lightscribe 2.0 (it can burn colors and do it in 30 seconds), and laptop speakers capable of pumping out 1000 watts... yeah... thats my dream machine

Almost seems like it is feasible within the next 10 years

I would like brain-top. One embedded in my brains. Always with me, always available. Can listen to iTunes while working, watch porn and entertain yourself other ways:D:D:D!

I'd like to make a modification... if you don't mind. :D

- MacbookPro 12" Pad
- Superfine 3D Holographic Display
capable of supporting 2560 x 1600 pixels (optimum)

- Multi-Cell Bio Processor,
capable of mutating from 8 cores to 16 (on demand)

- 16GB of RAM (option to upgrade to 1TB RAM)

- Dual Channel DDR14 Decabyte SSD (in Raid)
- Firewire 3200 (what's USB?):D

- 802.11zz networking, terabit ethernet
- bluetooth 20.0b

- Bluray 2.0 slotloading burner with 500GB BR-RAM per layer...

- Pro Audio circuits capable of Class AAA audio @ few Gigawatts...
- Battery that gives 20 hours of pure power - with everything on full!
- 2 hour charge!

Dream Machine right? :D

***ATTENTION: REALISTIC DREAM BELOW!!!11***

im hoping in the near future there will be a MacBook/Pro with a 12-13" screen, aluminium case, <1" thin, Macbook/Pro Keyboard or new MacBook Air keyboard, Nehalem CPU, 2GB RAM stock, up to 320GB hard drive with 7200rpm option, slot loading Blu-ray super-duperdrive:D (redesigned by third party manufacturers to be ultra thin). then ill buy this in a flash!

graphics card does not matter to me as ill buy a desktop for gaming and graphics work.

Well if that's what were aiming at.. how about a 2" mbp with part human brain(shrunk)/centillion transistors to create/produce superior cores each year and ability to create its own gpu (kind of like grown over the years or matures). And all memory will be stored infinitely in the brain and forgotten if not used in years. As for the screen it shoots some sort of a laser/photon into your eyes directly where the screen is created within your mind and you can use your own brain to sync with the laptop's brain to control whatever you do (surround sound included!).

12" widescreen with solar pannel top which can charge enough to stay on all the time. only is 1-2cm thick, instant on, 1tb... mmm:apple:

A 15" widescreen (1680 x 1050) Macbook Pro. 0.8" thick, 4 pounds, quad core at 2.8ghz, 8gb RAM, 500gb SSD. 3 USB ports, HDMI, DVI, macbook keyboard, brushed steel look. Glossy screen (8 bit, millions of colours, IPS).

I can dream :)

Technically speaking... The current MBP already has, or are capable of outputting to HDMI via a DVI to HDMI cable. The only thing, the audio won't be embeded within the HDMI.

Errm... a decabyte? That's 10 bytes. Deca = x10, such as "decade" or "10 years"

13 inch quad core nehalem. 1440x 900.
all glass, haptic touch virtual keyboard on the bottom panel when open, converts to 2-sided tablet when closed. hand-writing recognition without stylus.
