I would be happy with a MacBook Pro that is faster than the new iMacs.

I was set on purchasing one until those came out.

Now I am back to debating power versus portability.

in addition to everything else you guys mentioned, it must have a 3d display for viewing "life-like" animations. Oh, and it's gotta have a printer that creates real $100 bills. :D And lasers (they'll serve a purpose, I just can't figure out which one yet...)

MBP option without optical drive, but ordered to have something else in the optical drive slot, such as another graphics card for SLI mode, or for another harddrive, probably high speed SD drive. This way MBP can maintain its thinness.

PS already have 17" MBP. Works great. Just an idea for improvement for many of us who don't need optical drive on a daily basis. =)

Sitting in my bedroom, MBP.. But then again, I'm not very computer knowledgable. But so far its more then I could ask for.

Too many speculation threads!!!!

I have my dream laptop for now. I don't need Bluray.

Fully pimped ThinkPad T61 running OS X officially.

T61 with the messed up screen bezel? Yuck! That's why I moved from a T60p to a MBP.

15.4" 7,680×4,320 resolution
8GB 800Mhz RAM
2.8Ghz Octo-core processer
1GB Video card
512GB SSD
4 USB 3.0
2 FW 800
1 FW S3200
Multi-touch

Hmmm... For the end of 2010:

- "Sandy Bridge" Core 4 Sexadecimo processor running at some speed over 2 GHz (Please Intel change your naming schemes! It doesn't work past 4 cores!)
- 16 GB DDR4 RAM
- 1 TB SSD
- An awesome GPU, like an R900, or maybe an Intel Larrabee?
- 15" screen (maybe OLED?)
- Silicon Nanowire battery, or something that can keep it running on battery for over 10 hours, even when it's being caned by CPU + GPU + RAM intensive apps, ie. games.
- Other cool stuff that I don't care about as much.

Something the exact size (or maybe a little thinner) of the MacBook that looks like the Air with all of the features of the Pro. I could never afford it .

Spec's are the same and always get better. What I want in a perfect laptop is:

-MacBook Pro form factor: 1" or less thick
-Carbon fiber or metal chassis
-15" 1920x1080 res with resolution independence in the OS to run at a more ergonomic resolution.
- ability to pull the DVD and replace with a second battery
- user upgradeable, or better, hot swappable hard disk or solid state disk
- 8 hours of battery life
- a keyboard as good as those on original IBM thinkpads.

Specs? I'd love a quad core MBP with 8GB ram, 300-500GB disk AND a solid state boot disk.

Sci-fi? Dual screens top and bottom with the bottom screen acting as virtual keyboard, multi-touch track pad and/or drawing tablet.

Im not asking to much, just that Apple offer higher end video cards as an option. My MBP has a 8600GT M in it, while its a great card at the same time nVidia offered a 8800GTX M for purchase. Why the heck couldnt Apple have offered that card as an option?

My dreams are indescribable!

A 15" widescreen (1680 x 1050) Macbook Pro. 0.8" thick, 4 pounds, quad core at 2.8ghz, 8gb RAM, 500gb SSD. 3 USB ports, HDMI, DVI, macbook keyboard, brushed steel look. Glossy screen (8 bit, millions of colours, IPS).

I can dream :)

Considering the DVI port itself is about .8" which I guess is what makes a impossible dream?

a fully maxed out mac pro crammed in to a macbook pro case :D

I was thinking an unreleased 16-core Mac Pro crammed into a Macbook Air case!

It would likely have more BTUs than my barbeque.

My dreams are indescribable!

Maybe he meant to say Mini DVI port?

My dreams are simple and don't rely on any not-invented-yet parts:

15" Macbook Pro with 1920x1200 LCD, trackpoint (aka "nipplemouse"), and TWO BLOODY MOUSE BUTTONS FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY.

That is all. So, so tired of Apple's insistence on crippled LCD resolutions and single-button mice. Yes, I know about the two-finger right click, no I don't think that's sufficient. Trackpads suck to begin with compared to trackpoints.

Lenovo Thinkpad X300 with a 3-cell additional battery in the smart bay.
