In front of my MacBook Pro
Well... Octo MP with 64 Gb of RAM, 8 30" ACDs, 4 1 Tb (3rd party) HDs. And also a 15" MBP 2.4Ghz with 4 Gb of RAM, 250 Gb 5400 HD, 32 Gb expresscard 34 flash boot drive, + Apple KB & mouse and a 30" ACD. And A glossy 17" HD MBP of the same specs of the above. An 80 Gb iPod (want multitouch one) + 2 8 Gb iPhones. Dream setup... only the 15" MBP part will come true (working on the $$$ now).

Canada eh?
Technology changes so fast I can hardly keep ahead of things with my dreaming :p

For me it's not just one thing it's more about my server farm / lab.

At the moment I think I got it pretty good:

'Gaming PC' (8800GTX 768MB card / E6600 proc / 2GB DDR800 2xRAID 0 arrays) logitech g15/g5 kb/mouse
MBP 17"
27" Samsung 275t monitor
wacom 6x11 intuos tablet
M-Audio Project I/O fw interface / M-audio Prokeys 88 keyboard (that I would rather trade in for a nice Roland)

And then I have a bunch of servers I wont bore you all with listing...and I'm getting out of having a leased box and colo'ing my own space starting Aug 1. Just working out the details so I don't go broke (sooo expensive to colo in Canada).

Maybe I'm not very imaginative, but I find I don't maximize a lot of my stuff as it is. And some I do...so I try not to get to ridiculous...like what would I do with a large blade server and a pair of redundant cisco 6500 routers? Hooked up to my cable modem? LOL.

Ok ok...an OC256 running through my property that I can link into multiple times with a bunch of 10Gb router ports? I guess that qualifies as a dream :D

Mac Pro 2 x 2.66Ghz
3GB RAM
250GB + 500GB HDD

I don't know if I own my "dream" setup, but my Mac Pro's pretty close.

The only things that are lacking are faster processors, 4-cores, and more RAM :D

Home: Eight core Mac Pro with 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD in 4 high-speed 250's tri-booting OS X, XP, and Ubuntu with 1 30" ACD with an iSight (for God's sake). I think the 1900xt option would be good for my gaming needs, which are mainly Flight Simulator, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, and Sim City/Sims.

Mobile: BlackBook 2GB RAM, keep the 160GB drive, 30GB iPhone (I can dream, right?)

Photo: Keep my Nikon D50, get something in a 70-300mm lens, and a macro lens. 80GB iPod for photo backups on the go.

I'm not really that hard to please. Some of yall seem like you just chose the highest of whatever is available.

I'd like to get a maxed out Mac Pro. I already have my dream laptop, my MacBook Pro, and I'm getting my dream phone this week (iPhone), a cinema display would be nice too.

I could chime in with some Mac Pro monstrosity, but I don't know, my SR MBP with a MX Revolution mouse and a 6X8 Wacom tablet, a FW800 250gb external, with a pair of Shure e4c's is kinda rockin my socks off right now. I guess I'd take a 30'' ACD if they were giving them away:) , but other than that I'm happy.

wait nope...sorry... I had a brain fart

maxed high end SR MBP 15'' dual 30'', 2TB eSata external storage, Shure e500's, Final Cut Studio, Aperture, CS3 Master Edition, airport extreme-N station (with some hella fast connection like T-1 or something), and some BOSE speakers...kidding kidding, but I would need some high end 2.1 speaker system too (probably a nice set of creatives)

anyway thats as good as I can do right now

My dream setup is here: this picture is also the wallpaper for my iBook that I'll be carrying around at college. My Mac Pro will be safely in my dorm room. Under three Kensington locks in different places on the machine.

Okay, the file's too big, and any smaller would make my specs unreadable. It's not so much a dream setup anyway as much as it is what I'm REALLY getting, save for some guesses about the display and graphics card. So here goes:

Mac Pro
3+ Ghz Octore (my easier way of saying eight core)
6 GB RAM
2 TB HDD (two 1 TBs)
ATI Radeon HD X2900 XT
Superdrive (whatever)
Combo HD-DVD/Blu-Ray burner (at least 4x each)
24" HD Cinema Display w/built-in iSight

Oh, the possibilities...

Edit: Only a 2 TB hard drive so that I'll have some room for expansion. Again, the only dream aspect of this is the display and graphics card :p

  2. 2.33 GHz 17" MacBook Pro (main computer)
  3. Rev. C 20" iMac G5 (for running classic apps and testing stuff I develop)

Well, I was thinking of getting a MacBook to replace my ibook and powermac G4 MDD but this thread has made me feel so ill I think I may stick with the iBook alone! DEATH TO (RAMPANT) CONSUMERISM!

Semi-rant aside, I think I'd really like something I could look through my photos on without it stuttering horribly, ideally a laptop (so I can cart it to libraries), so, yeah, the MacBook I guess. And I do like big screens, so one of those too (if only someone could weave a screen from grass or something).
