One of my favorite inexpensive places on Earth is a ramen (noodle soup) joint in Tokyo called Foo-Foo. I go there every time I visit and recommend it to everyone--it's rather unassuming, being just a small restaurant in a corner of Shinjuku Station, but they have some of the best ramen in the city. Great stuff when you need something to fill up your stomach before hopping on the train. :D

Locally, I tend to go for a place in town called Thai Ruby--it's a tiny spot in a strip mall, but the interior is gorgeous and always decorated with fresh flowers, and the food is amazing. Most of the wait staff know me by now and bring out drinks as soon as I arrive. :p The egg rolls and vegetable panang curry are sublime. Siiigh.

I'll refrain from mentioning any expensive places, as I don't want to come off as snooty. ;) Don't get me wrong; one of my favorite places in the world is a family-owned rib joint in tiny little Dexter, Missouri. Fabulous stuff! I have memories of bringing back huge slabs in coolers when driving home from road trips. Totally worth the trouble, though.

Place in Lake Tahoe, CA/NV called Izzy's. Best. Burgers. Ever.

(Reason for "CA/NV": the city is in both states, and I can't remember which side the resturant was on.:D )

I know someone will ride me about this, but my favorite restaurant is the Outback Steakhouse. I know it's a chain and it's really expensive, but I've never had a meal there that wasn't the best thing I've ever eaten.

If you ever go, get the Aussie Cheese Fries - big fries with real cheddar cheese and bacon bits. A heart attack waiting to happen, but absolutely delicious.

Oh yeah, Outback is my Family's Favorite. (they dont like Izzy's.)

The cheese fries are awesome. When I go there, I always order a 12 oz. Sirloin, with Broccoli and a baked potato on the side. *drools*

I love finding a bargain. All the below are really cheap (comparatively speaking). In London, I still maintain there's no reason to pay huge prices for food. It's never worth it. I've been to a couple expensive restaurants in London, and I've never felt it's been worth the extortionate price. I'm a cheapskate. Welcome to my world :D

My Favourite London Restuarant's:

- Ed's Diner - American diner-themed joint just off Cambridge Circus nr Soho. Great atmosphere, great music (50's rock n roll), and most important, fantastic burgers for only a couple more quid than a McDonalds. Orgasmic Oreo cookie milkshakes also. Somehow manages to avoid being tacky, but still doesn't take itself seriously at all.
-Stockpot - One on Panton St, and one off Cambridge Circus, both in Leicester Sq. A three course meal for six quid!!! OK, it's not gourment, but it's got bags of atmosphere, and the food is as good as you'll find in any decent pub. You know it's good when you see people in there who have been customers since the 50's (opened in '58).
-Ancient Grill - Seven Sister's Road, Holloway. For £12 you get an all you can eat quality authentic Lebanese food. Full of Lebanese people, so you know it's good. Although it's all you can eat, you never have to ask for more as there's plenty there.
-Exquisite - Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park. Beautiful Mexican food. Most romantic of all the above restaurants thanks to good decor and low lights (also most expensive - you'll rarely pay less than £15 for two course meal and drinks). Huge portions. Best. Guacamole. Ever.

Honorary mentions (not really restaurants)

-Ray's Jazz Cafe - above Foyles (best bookshop in the world), Charing Cross Rd. Not necessarily for the food (though if you're a vegan and/or a health freak, you'll love it), but for the atmosphere. I try to go in here every day if I can. Fantastic jazz music, friendly staff, good views for people watching (ahem). Feels like you've stepped back in time; refreshing change from pseudo-European cafe's like Starbucks/Cafe Nero full of tourists of 'mee-ja' or advertising types.
-Some chinese cake store - in Chinatown, walk away from the arch, go down street first on right and its on your left. Dirt cheap authentic chinese baking. Rarely pay over 60p for a huge slice of cake or pastry. Its really and adventure in cuisine.

Hulk Hogan's Pastamania

Hulkamaniacs!

Actually, I never got the chance to eat there. I grew up and lived 15 minutes from the mall when this was supposedly there, although I never recall seeing it there. I was 10 when it opened. Perhaps I was the only 10 year-old who didn't like "professional" wrestling.

My #1 and previous #1!

My previous #1 was McGuires Irish Pub (Destin and Pensacola, FL)... a local unique place with a brewery, great food, and lots of Irish drinking songs.

My current #1 is Legal Seafood (East Coast, Boston-Washington DC). I have had some 'incredible lunches' there sitting at the bar with a Harpoon beer or two ... perfectly fresh seafood and best quality raw oysters [right, POH?]! If you fly through Ronald Reagan National Airport, Washington DC, there is one in the 'main' terminal area you can catch a quick meal at.
