I turned off battery percentage a while ago and I recommend everyone do the same if you're not already on an iPhone X. You develop a weird, fruitless habit of checking it obsessively hundreds of times per day when it's visible. There is literally nothing that comes of checking it constantly, other than some pointless anxiety. Occasionally you do need to check it, like if you decide to go somewhere and want to check your battery level before you go, which is easy to do via Control Center, or the Battery widget. This type of once or twice per day check is normal. What isn't normal is constantly looking at your battery percentage and doing some sort of passive, subconscious evaluation of your battery life that isn't necessary, or even useful.
Those of you that think you "miss it", I suggest you relax and realize: Your usage pattern tends to be the same every day. If the phone normally gets you through the day (it should), then there is nothing to look at it. If it doesn't get you through the day, find a routine that does, or find a routine way of topping up your charge. This is much healthier than constantly checking your battery percentage.
