So my mental age relates to if I wear a baseball cap backwards? What if I don't wear hats because they mess my hair up? Then basing mental age off of how impatient I am and if I have a pension. This has got to be the poorest written test I have seen in a while.

Get off my lawn. ;)

Interesting… I did two tests.

My mental age changed from 44 to 70 by changing two answers.

Hmmmm.

Oh, actual age? 53 in two weeks' time.

I'm really curious as to how you get an under 10 outcome when you 20+? :) Does the test equate youth with generosity or selfishness? I saw one question about observing someone falling down on the street, what you'd do? The choices were along the lines of:
  • Run over and help
  • Be thankful it was not you
  • Think the person was an idiot (not exact words)
  • Other- don't remember.
Imo there was no single good answer. So which of these thing equate to which ages?

My answer was to be thankful it was not me. :) But I would have chosen help them, if they needed or wanted helping, for example a young person who popped back up no problem, versus an old or feeble/injured person.

Not to insult anyone, but I took the test a second time and deliberately chose answers that I felt would have been chosen by someone who is self-centered/irresponsible and I ended up with a score of 7. This leads me to believe it is a morals-based test. However, we must keep in mind that the definition of morals will change from person to person.

So children are immoral? (Not directed at you. ;)) Now I'm questioning the tests validity. I know some kids who would help someone who fell down. I would think that the choices for children might be indicative of rash or dangerous choices because of undeveloped risk assessment.

It's possible and likely that different questions tested different aspects of immaturity versus maturity.

Mental Age: 33. I'm 24 in real life.lol

Did the test again and chose different answers on 3 questions and got a mental age of 24. Although tbh these tests are never 100% accurate.

Agreed.

Some of the questions did not reflect the real life experiences, let alone the personal preferences of some of us of a more - shall we say - mature vintage.
Mature vintage. You have a way of transmuting the written word into an art form.

I don't believe children are immoral, rather, I believe that a child's concept of morals is directly connected with environment and upbringing.

Oh, my, what a blunder on my part. @Scepticalscribe , please accept my apologies.

Well, I wasn't the person who drew attention to it - although the default assumption that people are male can be rather amusing when engaged in online communication.

More to the point, I was (am) more than happy to accept with gracious thanks the kind remarks you made concerning my prose.

I'm sorry, not meant to embarrass, no apology required. I've suggested that gender be allowed to be designated on the MRs profile page.
No apology necessary. It was, after all, a bad assumption on my part.. one that I shall endeavor to eject. Growth often requires change, and I am grateful for it being brought to my attention :)

And some prefer not to have it mentioned - after all, as the cartoon so eloquently phrased it, "On the internet, nobody knows you are a dog," (or, substitute some other interesting noun).

Re gender, in general, I don't usually refer to it unless something unusually stupid - or extraordinarily insulting and offensive - (or both, this is not unknown on these fora) - is uttered, said, or written, in PRSI which may need to be called out, or challenged.

Actually I've made that assumption incorrectly several times in this forum. And imo, it's good info to have, not to deceive, but there are times when sensitivity to different viewpoints based on sexuality can help, especially for some of the PRSI topics, although I sense I'm about to be slapped down by SS on this. ;)

I suspect many of us would decline to state. But it is surprising such a thing isn't there already given the blatant "social media" styled overhaul that came with the xenforo software change.

I would volunteer this info, but admit though my posts it becomes evident fairly quickly. ;)

I think this should be an option. Not a requirement though. I'm female myself.

This test, I just choose what I'd consider if I were in the circumstance even if I would not actually do it. For example, I'm not the house party type but I'd consider seating first. I don't wear baseball caps but they were made for blocking sun so therefore forward is appropriate. I'd help someone if they fell because my heart condition has led me to pass out in some horrific places and I'd never want to leave someone in those circumstances. I had no idea what the first answers were but an ice lolly sounded delicious. I do ask a restaurant if the tip is included because when I go to certain cultural restaurants, they do not accept tips or it's already calculated in when I'm with a big group.

I forgot my answer about Twitter and the others. I wonder who these ethics are based on as I don't particularly consider myself to be very sophisticated.

What is it about your posts that you think identifies you as a male?
