yeah also wondering whether there's a cydia app that will allow sms lock ?
or some sort of password lock to prevent other people reading my text messages...
Thanks!
Sorry i know nothing of cydia apps... :) *it's been a while*

BiteSMS is a great app for just about everything you need to change with the stock messaging app. Check it out. It does allow SMS lock along with a myriad of other features.

iProtect worked in 3.x.x, have not tried it yet on 4.0

That is the worst app ever (for iOS4, anyway)!! Crashes as soon as I tap the icon. Is there any other app that offers lock features similar to iProtect?
I agree with you I installed it and clicked on it than it crashes and I get a message that my iPhone is in safe mode, right away after than I deleted it, I'm still looking for a similar app...anyone??

Any of you have a favorite widget? I'm looking for a good weather and stock one. A live weather wallpaper would work as well...

Anyone having issues downloading winterboard?when I hit the install button it gives me a red NOTE: the reguested modification cannot be applied due to required dependencies or conflicts that cannot be automatically found or fixed. why is it saying that, last time I jailbreaked my phone was when 3.0 came out.

It gets a lot of grief but:

I can't live without the Intelliscreen alerts

Also:
Haptic Pro
QuickSMS
MyWi
SBSettings

Wish Jobs would allow alerts to alert you more than once. Everything else I could possibly live without.

I agree about the Intelliscreen alerts.

And one that I haven't seen mentioned here is asVibra2. I love having the 3 vibrates!

Does anyone know of an alternative to quickscroll 2 on iOS4 (it's the only version I found on cydia)-? It crashes safari everytime I use it.

"does anybody know any IOS4 compatible app to password protect SMS"
Hard to know what will work until jailbreak for 4 comes out.
I used iblacklist and would simply put someone on that list if I wanted privacy.
Big boss would allow you to hide any icon
Adding a level of security.
There is also software that allows you to password protect individual programs.
Mccleaner was an excellent call blocker

anyone know a good app for changing the textmessage alert sound and other alerts to custome tones that i have? does bitesms cover this?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think BiteSMS will do this but I could be wrong. In order to change mine I used SSH to manually replace files on the phone, backing up all the old files just in case. I have the Sportscenter alert noise and Data (Star Trek) saying "Captain, We're being hailed." as SMS tones. I also replaced the SMS sent noise with the sent email noise.

is there an app or an sbsettings addon that has a toggle for passcode lock? i've spent too much time searching for an answer that i'm sadly guess there isn't? i'm hoping i'm just searchtarded.

Not heard of biteSMS before or should i say i never installed. Now i installed it says to buy full version for £5.99!? Is there a link to somewhere that explains what this App is and why i would need it on my iPhone 4 as everyone seems to reccommend it on here.
I pay for apps that i like is this worth it or is there also a free version of this in Cydia ;o)

I'm not really understanding BiteSMS for some reason.

What is it actually for?

MyWi-useful if you need to tether and don't want to pay $20/month to AT&T
Ultrasnow-if you're on any carrier other than AT&T (in the US)

I think winterboard makes the iPhone ugly and is a battery waster, don't text heavily and think SBsettings isn't that useful.

it actually replaces your messages app. it has everything messages has and a lot more. i just downloaded today and WILL NOT be going back to the regular messages app :)

BiteSMS alone is worth the entire jailbreak effort, IMO.

A lot of these would be useful if you could actually download/install them. :(

BiteSMS adds a ton a functionality to the messaging capabilities of the phone. The main one in my opinion is quick reply. You can reply directly within the message popup without ever leaving the app you were in (or unlocking the phone).

It also has options for sending texts through their network but I have no interest in that.

I even went as far as to change all the wording and icons so on my homescreen nothing looks different but I still have all the function of BiteSMS (Their default icon is god awful)

how did you change the bitesms icon?

iProtect - I think it's version 2.0, works perfect on my iphone 4. You can lock any apps you want...it's like $8-$9 though.

Why lock your apps and not just lock your phone?

Any other good benefit to iprotect?
