Hi, I would first like to start off by saying, I'm not really a cat guy. I like dogs, and think they have more personality... but I have fallen in love with my girlfriends cat. I find myself going out of my way to do things for this animal...

anyway, I was hoping someone could help me tell what kind of cat Maggie is?

Thanks

Adorable cat.

Here's mine. He's really sweet. I got him when I moved out from my parents house so I'd have some company. He's really sweet, very friendly, I just love him. :)

Those are some pretty strong words against the most loyal creature associated with Human companionship. I feel like you may have been around the wrong dogs. I can assure you a number of owners of service dogs could tell you that their animal is as loyal, loving, and personable as a human being. There are studies recently done that show a number of dog breeds have the intelligence of 7-8 year olds, specifically Border Collies, Shepherd breeds, etc. I recommend watching the recent Discovery documentary called 'Dog Genius' before you rag on them. Dogs are designed to be companions, and if you ever have one for hunting, service, or other specific bred task, you'd be more aware of their characteristics. Too many people take neglected high energy black labs, etc. put in unfavorable domestic situations for being stupid and/or prototypical of the entire species...

Both animal species have great redeeming qualities as well as shortcomings...
-Proud owner of a Newfoundland Dog and German Shepherd, both as personable as can be. (I also have a DSH, equally personable, heh)

Sorry, but I agree with John. Dogs are helpless without you. Cats can take care of themselves. I like dogs, but I feel the same way about them as I do kids: I like to borrow them, but I don't want one of my own. I'm far too busy to ever own a dog.

My siamese kitty is wonderful and she's able to be by herself for long periods of time if need be. As long as she has food and water, she's good. Cats are also amazingly empathic. If something bad happens, or you're feeling low, they know it and won't leave your side. But they aren't looking for attention at those moments. They just sit quietly next to you or on your lap- just so you know they are there for you. Here's pic of my pretty little girl:
