I just bought an SGP Anti-Glare for the iPad. Were amazing for the iPhone and expect something similar.

Hopefully I'll get it before Friday but I'm doubtful with Tax Day almost here.

It looks like the SGPs use an adhesive, is this right? I thought they were static.

Where can I find the information of "SGP Anti-Glare for the iPad"? I search for a while and I can't not find it. I only find "SGP Steinheil AF (Anti Fingerprint) Premium LCD Protection film for Apple iPad" on Amazon. Does it what you ordered? Is it anti-Glare? I am a fan of power support anti-glare film, and anti-glare is very important to me. It's really uncomfortable to watch glare for a long time, and I don't want to wait for power support anymore. Please give me some hint about where to buy SGP Anti-Glare or any better anti-glare film. I would like to get my anti-glare film asap. Thanks!

Here's the product site. If you scroll down, it mentions the Anti-glare coating in the features.

I would say avoid the SGP anti-glare (they called it anti-fingerprint) screen protector... at least for now.

I had used their anti-glare protector for my iPod touch that I really liked. So I ordered the one for iPad immediately right after I got my iPad. It arrived yesterday, but the thing is very disappointing. The problem has to do with how they cut the hole for the home button. Instead of having an O-shaped cut out, they have an inverted U-shaped cut out, leaving the area below the home button uncovered. Not only does it look ugly, it is also quite impractical, since you are very likely to unintentionally touch the area below the home button every time you press it.

It is very puzzling why they cut it this way for the iPad, since their iPod touch version was cut perfectly (O-shaped cut out for home button). I've emailed them to see if they can do properly cut version or refund, but they haven't get back to me yet.

Another brand that got mentioned frequently for their quality screen protector is PhotoDon. But you can forget about this too. I've asked them regarding how they cut the screen protector for the home button, this is their response:

Thank you for your inquiry.

We do not offer a cut out for the button on the iPad. Our personal experience with the iPad in the usability of the film over the button we have sited these advantages:
· The button functions as it would with no film covering it.
· Yes it does bubble slightly when you press the button but they disappear again rather quickly.
· As you use the button the film will conform to the button indent slightly over time.
· It creates a clean surface to clean where a hole will fill with dirt and grit.
· Often when cutting a hole in film it distorts the film creating a raised edge that never lays flat.

sounds like you probably got an initial batch before they had an actual iPad in stock so they couldn't measure exactly where the home button would be.

because from this video using their regular screen protector, they were able to cut a hole perfectly fine

No need for a screen protector. Apple even banned them from their stores. There is a video of somebody trying to scratch the screen with a nail and it didn't scratch. Save your money and don't cover up that beautiful screen.

Apple's banning of screen protectors from their stores are hardly a reason to feel there's no need. Not all screen protectors are for scratches. Anti fingerprint, privacy shields, mirror finish... And for Apple to decide we don't need them, is no reason people need to be good little sheep.

I know that they are banning it, at least you can't find them anymore on their online store anymore. But some Apple stores still have them for sale. When I purchased my iPad at the Apple Store in Old Orchard Mall in Chicago, they have screen protectors for sale there. In fact, the salesman specifically asked me if I want to get a screen protector for the iPad and I said no (knowing that it's cheaper to get them online). He then tried to remind me that the screen is made of glass, not plastic (don't know what was that supposed to mean, will shattered when dropped?).

But in this video they have the hole cut as an inverted U-shape

(see 0:54 onwards)

weird huh?

The item linked in that video, is a completely different product, it seems to be a softer material than the "Steinheil" line of their protectors. Even says "soft" on the box and is sold as a "Full Body Solution" as opposed to the "Steinheil" which is screen only.

My guess is softer material = different method to cut out the home button

If you're interested in the Zagg, just go here:

You sign up and they immediately send you a coupon for a % off. I signed up twice and the second time I got the 50% off coupon. So I got my full iPad skin for only $20.

* April 11 - April 17
* April 18 - April 24
* April 25 - May 1

You can only sign up once during each week though. So if you don't get the 50% off this week, you'll have to wait until April 18 to try again.

If you use separate email addresses, you can sign up once a day and get a coupon code. If you know how to change your IP address, you can keep using different emails until you get the 50% off code.

The two screen protectors are made of the same material.

The video you posted is demonstrating the Steinheil SQ

The video I posed is demonstrating their full body solution, which is just the Steinheil SQ screen protector + an invisible-shield-like material for the back of the iPad

SGP has got back to me regarding the o-shaped vs inverted u-shaped thing:

Hello,
Thank you for contacting SGP customer service.
At the first time we made 'O'shape however we found bubbling problem on the bottem of the butten. That is why we change to 'U' shape and sent out to the pre-order customer.
But now we solve the bubble problem and re-ship to the customer who want to 'O'shape.
If you would like to use 'O'shape, let us know.
We are getting shippment from manufacture(South Korea),
we probably can ship to you by next week!

If you have any more questions, please feel free contact our customer service department again at sgpstore.com@gmail.com. Thank you.

I've used Zagg's invisible shield on bith my iPhones and love it. I plan on getting one for the iPad. It shows off the device quite nicely and minimizes the fingerprints and glare - especially the glare!!:)

I received the Griffin screen protector today. It does it's job, its anti glare and anti fingerprint.

That being said, its not as clear as the PowerSupport anti glare filter I have in my iPhone. And has more "crystalization".

For now, the anti glare and anti finger prints outweigh the loss in display quality, but I'll probably be buying a PowerSupport version sometime int the future.

I just e-mailed them today after looking at this post and they said they will ship me the "O" shape as soon as they get the next batch which is suppose to by end of this week. They told me to keep the U shape and wait the O shape arrives so it wouldn't scratch my screen. no need to ship back since they can't sell used screen protectors :D

Where did you purchase the Griffin protector from? I haven't been able to find them anywhere.

SGP does not use adhesive.

I just put my protector on and it is top notch. No fingerprints, smudges, anything.

The other poster was right, I did receive the kind with the upside down U near the circle button. Honestly, I thought it would bother me but it doesn't. I have the Apple case and it covers that up anyway.

I can't recommend this enough to fans of the PS brand. No need to wait IMO because I guarantee the quality of the image you see will be no different between their iPhone screen shields. In other words, SGP will be better.

Posted from my smudge less iPad. :D

Just go ahead send SGP an email. They will mail you the newer version with an O-shaped hole for the home button right away (and they said I don't have to return the old one).

For the past few weeks I kept coming here on the forums in search for an answer RE: screen protectors...

..I bit the bullet yesterday and got the Zagg InvisibleShield for the iPad and love it. I love that i'm protected in the screen area. I have a little 1yr old baby brother who surprisingly knows the screen is all touch and messes around with some apps like the Toy Story read-along one; at least now i can rest knowing he won't F it up.

...also though, there are some ppl, namely a cousin who has an iPod Touch and hates the new iPad, even after seeing mine and not handing it back for an hour says its the dumbest thing ever, but I can tell he's in awe. My point being he has messy hands, like dirty hands...I don't know why they're dirty, but they just are...iono, i'm at piece now with the InvisibleShield.

(It did take me over an hour to put it on though, and i'm even a licensed Zagg shield installer.)
