I said if they are poisonous, then kill them.

Read, please.

And would that be a Derringer??

No, a Dillinger. Our spiders are known to have a dangerous bank robber strapped to their legs.

Read, please.

Here, here. Just because it's an ugly little creature doesn't mean it doesn't serve a purpose - simply because you're scared of something or don't like it is no reason to take it's life away, however small that life may be.

Then again, I'm the type that goes out of my way to avoid stepping on ants on the sidewalk. Take an extra two minutes, trap it, and take it outside and let it go.

oh boy i bet in 5 years there will be a PETB (people for equal treatment of bugs) :p

i say kill that mofo. spider bites have taught me that i hate spiders and any other bug that can bite me

now rollie pollies, ladybugs and lighting bugs are way cool and should be spared haha

don't let him bite you and if he does and you start feeling the urge to climb buildings and start shooting webbing out of your hands, then it's fantastic.

honestly, my spidey senses say just open the window as best you can and see if it leaves.

What's a lightning bug? They sound cool?

A lightning bug (I call them fireflies) are the bugs that light up in the back. Kids try to capture them and put them in jars. You know?

...and when you touch them you get zapped. They were working on a way a couple years ago to harness all the electricity that Lightning Bugs create.

No, our bugs don't light up, they just kill you in the dark.

I've heard of Fireflies - never seen them in real life though, closest I've got is on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland - the old one, before Johnny Depp.

Threaten it with a can of Lysol, "Leave or else!" :apple:

My mother once told me to kill a cricket that got into my apartment that way. Since I could barely locate the damn thing to humanely release it, I was forced to take it down with some lysol and a broom. It was loud as hell and scared the ever loving crap out of me!

That's a jumping spider, see if you can get him on a horizontal surface and you'll see what I mean. We have heaps of them around, they seem pretty harmless.

Thumb size is not massive.

Just going back for a better look - arachnophobic you see.

EDIT - OK, that second photo makes it look totally different - time to hit it with the Mortein till it's dead.

My last spider thread: Atrax Robustus - The Funnel Web Spider

+1

I just found one of those guys by my house. I kept him for a couple days because I've never seen that species before, just the little gray ones that
you'll see if you look closely on the side of of building. The one I found was actually very interesting because it seemed to "like" being photographed. I'm sure it was just a response to the flash as they're not smart enough to really "like" anything. But interesting, none the less. :)

I saw one of these the other day about the size of a quarter. I agree that it is a jumping spider, but, in general, they are harmless.
