That's about what they look like for me. Maybe others get better results. It's using an LG drive & Nero software.
The ones I've done look similar.

What I've found, is that black and white type images look great. Color or grayscale images, such as faces or places, tend not to look as nice.

I agree! The more contrast the better. ;)

Anyone have any problems after installing the Samsung 202N?

https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Samsung/SHS202NBLS/

I just installed mine (literally, like 15 minutes ago) in the lower drive bay and now my Mac Pro won't boot. It will stay on the apple screen for MUCH longer than usual, then I get a blue screen, then.....nothing. It just sits there on that blue screen. Restarting (by pressing the power button) just restarts the whole process all over again. I'll disconnect the cables from the Samsung and see if it boots normally again. For the record, I also have this one installed in the upper bay: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Pioneer/DVR115DBK/, and it works perfectly.

James

EDIT: I unplugged the Samsung. The Mac Pro rebooted in, like, 20 seconds from pushing the power button. Next, I'll plug in only the Samsung, but not the Pioneer and see what happens.

Make sure the jumpers are correct. If they are both Master then you'll have problems. I think they are supposed to be set to Cable Select.

LaCie won't work with Mac OS 10.5.3

If you plan to buy the Lightscribe burner, be aware that it apparently won't work with the recent 10.5.3 update. I have tried 2 burners now on 2 different Macs using first Firewire, then USB. The unit burns discs fine, but the Labeler cannot find the drive and reports a communications error. After endless waits for their Tech SUpport, I tried the latest software from LaCie, who finally told me to return the unit. Suggestion: don't waste your time and $4 gas on this puppy.

Just like to throw in my 2 cents worth. I have used lightscribe and inkjet printers for labeling discs. I highly recommend you not go with lightscribe. It takes a long time to burn the image (20 minutes sometimes), and of course, your stuck with no color, and it's unreliable, the devices still intermittently fail to recognize valid lightscribe cd's. There are plenty of printers that will print photo quality photos that you can also use to print on cds. And, when some idiot decides to spit on the disc and say, "Hey, can you do something to fix this?" you reply with, after spitting on a piece of paper and ruining it, "No, can you fix this?"

Lite-On, Macbook Pro, and Lightscribe

What labeling software is best for these? I got the one from the LightScribe site and it worked but it was BORING! The one from LaCie looked interesting but I couldn't get it to communicate with my burner.

Boring? I don't get it. Does the program need to be a game? Or are you saying that it's missing decent graphic design flexibility?
