This Is the order of Which Mac Laptop I Prefer

#1. Macbook Pro 15 inch 2.66 ghz $1999 - A little bit to expensive, because my moms also wants a iMac and I dont want to have her spend too much

#2. Macbook Air 2.13 ghz (Mid 2009) $1799 - Not too expensive and mother approves of this price, but worried about how youtube videos are with the Macbook Air, even though thanks to you guys I know it fits my needs ( I have no doubt with that). Does any one have a Macbook Air and can they tell me how youtube videos play on it?

#3. Macbook Pro 13 inch $1499 - I don't like this model too much because it just seems so typical to get. I prefer the Air or 15 inch Pro but would get this one if I had no choice.

WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET ?

WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET ?

It depends on what you want. Want portability? Get the MacBook Air. Want power and more screen real estate? Get the MacBook Pro.

In your situation, I'd get the MacBook Air. It's more than capable of achieving all the tasks you require and the thinness and lightness is profound. Coming from a 15" MacBook Pro, the MacBook air is sufficient enough for all my needs and is thin and light enough to take everywhere.

It can watch Youtube video (even HD) perfectly fine. Don't worry a bit about that; the 9400M graphics handles it well.

And no matter which notebook you decide to buy, wait a few weeks till they're refreshed.

Hi, Great you have been thinking of what you want to use the system for. Since you will have a really nice iMac in the house and this is a second computer as you said when your mom is on the iMac I would go with the MBA. You don't really need the superdrive as you can iso any disk on the iMac and transfer or install via external drives.

Only difference from the 13" Pro and the MBA is CPU speed, Ram and superdrive. As a secondary computer these really make less of an impact on daily use and you get a really nice low weight notebook.

YouTube videos work great on the MBA that I have used at school.

My vote is MBA.

If you travel a lot and are constantly on the move I would look long and hard at the MBA.

That being said, I backpacked Europe with a 15" MBP without issue. If the MBA was available when I went I may have got one, but even still I probably would have went for the 13" MBP, which was also not available at the time.

Basically, as far as the options you listed I'd go for #3, #1, and #2 in a distant, distant third.

You have no idea how much you'll miss having multiple ports and an optical drive, you might only need it once or twice but it'll be a huge inconvenience.

Also, even though you probably don't see it happening, I'd heavily bet you'll strongly end up using one primarily. So it's best to get a laptop you can use as an everyday machine. Plus the MBP's have faster processors which will help it stay pleasantly usable for a bit longer.
