Agreed.. I'm sure I will get the new iPhone 5, but a 5in screen to me is a little big.. The footprint and overall feel of the iPhone 4/4S is the perfect form-factor IMHO.

Indeed, and I'm totally in agreement with you on the size factor, as well. I definitely don't have small hands, but I still feel the size of the iPhone is perfect for me, in hand and in pocket. If they could increase the screen size a bit by narrowing the bezel, however, I certainly wouldn't object.

Aluminium like the first one, with similar flat back and rounded sides. They got it right the first time.

I don't care. I'll just get a plastic case for it anyway.

That is what I don't want to have to do. The iPhone 4 is the first phone I have used a case on. I use the bumper I got for free for 3 reasons.

1. It is uncomfortable to hold otherwise. The glass does not contribute to the width you hold.

2. It did improve the signal.

3. It protects the exposed glass.

I am hoping the next iPhone does have a redesign. I would be happy with a mini-iPad style, but something original and more robust than the 4/4S would be great.

The iPhone 4 design is beautiful to look at and horrible to use: Slippery as heck when your hands are moist and not very comfortable with all those square edges. I have the black version with an orange bumper and it's quite nice that way.

My choice would be a black, rubberized surface that was anything but glass. I predict same shape/size and 3.8" screen.

definitely aluminum. the 4 and 4S is a good looking design no doubt, but i hate being worried about cracking both sides of the phone. the only reason i used an iPhone bumper is because of the front and back glass design..i hate covering up the good looking phone, but i can't afford to keep replacing glass

Am I the only one who likes glass? It looks great, easy to clean and is fairly strong.

The whole talk about it being slippery is rubbish - it's no less slippery than a smooth metal.

Diamond slab backing!

They can manufacture diamonds now, how sexy would a crystal looking back be? :p

Oh and dear god, no rubber based backings?

lint lint lint pet hair lint lint pet hair pet hair lint.

Scratches or scuffs would look ugly as hell.

No, you're not the only one who likes glass. And yes, I totally agree about it being not any more slippery than metal or (most) plastic.

Carbon fiber still feels (but mostly looks) kinda chintzy, IMO, as does the look (but mostly the feel) of a rubberized back. I totally understand why some like these features, and that's cool, but there are numerous cases and covers that can provide these looks/feels. On the other hand, it's much harder to effectively reproduce the feeling of solid glass/metal by starting from the converse (e.g., plastic/carbon fiber/aluminum). So, obviously I prefer keeping the status quo.

At any rate, as I've expressed, I much prefer both the feel and look of the 4/4S over the OG iPhone (bulky and dent/scratch-prone) or the 3G/3GS (cheap-feeling, and a veritable scratch magnet). Also, I didn't use a case on the 4, and haven't used one on the 4S either, and they remain looking (and feeling) great.
