What measures do I take to at least make it look unjailbroken?

Not understanding how I'm in the "iphone hacks" thread and getting so much flack though. I havent done anything that wasnt freely available for you. Havent stolen an app or nothing. People and their morals kill me. Someone could be a help to me..

The "flack" would be from telling verizon someone stole your phone. I jailbreak my iPhones and ATV's, but if I break something I wouldn't lie to the company I bought something from and tell them it's stolen, trying to get a new one. That's stealing, if they replace it on your word.

Eric and I don't see much eye to eye (see our debates in PRSI), but on this, I damn well agree. Trying to get another iPhone out of your carrier by lying to them and saying it was stolen shows a serious lack of integrity. That is the issue he is getting at, not the one about giving you help. We're here to help, but trying to pull a stunt like that from VZW or any other carrier is flat out wrong.

First he's stuck at the Apple logo so he cant do that.
2nd when you're JB you cannot do any OTA updates. It will give you an error and wont install.

I think he needs to try other things to fix his issue. I had my iPhone 4 do something like that before and I had a hard time fixing the issue.

I tried for hours and used the tiny umbrella program and others. I ended up having to use a Mac to restore it.

Not sure if OP is using a windows machine or Mac, but I would suggest trying more things to fix it and stay honest.

If he's put the phone in DFU and it not being recognized by iTunes then there's really nothing to do but take it in for a replacement. Nothing short of hardware failure can prevent an iPhone in DFU mode from being restored.

I have no idea why the guy decided fraud would be the right course when there's no reason he couldn't just get the thing replaced under warranty.

Update on Fraud claims:

I went to Verizon, told them originally that the dock connector wouldnt work. They said that it could possibly be my fault [how, I dont know], and I would have to pay $210 to them in store for a refurbished. SO I went to another store and contemplated saying that it was stolen, but walked out after I asked them how much would it cost me to get one under my insurance.. Yet again... 210, and I'd have to use my early upgrade.

I went to the apple store, showed them my dock connector wasnt working and got a brand new replacement.

Many of the geniuses and other employees at Apple stores have JB phones in my experience. Most of them (but certainly not all) want to be as helpful as possible, so if you are nice and they can find some leg to stand on that you did not break the phone they will try to hook you up of at all possible.
