It was pretty good, and really great for an Indie film and had a sullen, yet enjoyable soundtrack. For a geek like me, it didn't reveal anything I didn't already know, but was still interesting to see.

Thanks.

Looks like it goes on sale for streaming or digital download on August 1.

May have to check it out.

Watched Enemy last night.

An interesting (and thought provoking) movie that you really have to pay attention to. I was multitasking during this one and regretted it the moment the movie ended.

Would it be a spoiler to ask, "twins, clones, or just coincidence"? And why is there a big spider crawling over that cityscape? That's a thought provoking title. :)

it would be a spoiler. If there was something to spoil.
I would not watch this movie again. Waste of time imo.

That is a very good movie - it is one of the few from Hitchcock that I actually like. Actually, I saw an excellent stage adaptation of the play (movie?) around a quarter of a century ago - the story translates very well to the stage.

According to the TCM introduction, the movie was adapted from a successful stage play by Frederick Knott. Then, in 1998, the movie was re-made and given a new title of A Perfect Murder, starring Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow, though not deemed as good as the 1954 film by Hitchcock.

Ah, that makes complete sense.

Actually, I hadn't realised that its origins lay in the stage, but - given that it translated almost effortlessly to the stage (and the production I saw in the 1980s was genuinely excellent) - it does make an awful lot of sense that the original version was a successful stage play which was then transplanted to the silver screen.

Re the re-make, I'm not surprised that it was not deemed to be as good as the original; the original was excellent.

However, the whole point was that it wasn't, in fact, "A Perfect Murder"…..so, I am somewhat taken aback at the title the re-make decided to use…..how about some sort of originality, Hollywood, instead of trying to replicate the Golden Years, with a striking lack of success?

Hollywood doesn't seem to be interesting in originality much these days, or in the recently passed decades. There are some, good, original films around, but not so much as a whole.

I've not seen the 1998 remake, but have little doubt that TCM's opinion of it is likely spot on.

Last night I watched Black Sabbath, per the suggestion of someone in this thread about Mario Bava. The second section with Boris was fantasic, and worth the entire dvd package. Very interesting and chilling film. Bravo, Bava.

Last night I watched I am Legend with Will Smith. I think I prefer The Omega Man more, and I haven't seen The Last Man on Earth so I can't compare that. I didn't see the alternate ending, but I think it would have fit the movie a little better.

Mostly it was just okay.

Since I was on a horror streak, I watched The Beyond, 1981, last night. Wow. Deeply chilling; despite some of the overdone gore. But the concept was terrifying to me. Another great old horror film!

I seem to be on a bit of an Alan Rickman kick. Last night I watched Bottle Shock. I had some minor problems with the way it played out, but overall a delightful indy flick.

Who is planning on seeing Guardians of the Galaxie in the theater? Premier is 1Aug. I knew little about it until a write up in Entertainment Weekly. It looks interesting. Wondering if this could be really good or just another mediocre ensamble space adventure? Another Star Wars (4-6) or Firefly/Serenty? Although enjoyable, I don't rate Firefly/Serenity as great.

Looks silly to me, and I won't spend the money to see it in the theater. I'll wait until it comes to Netflix or Redbox.

A colleague dropped in a DVD of this movie to me, and I have not yet had time to take a look at it, but will do so in due course; in any case, I'm glad you liked it, as it is a movie I am looking forward to having the chance to watch.

I hope you like it too.

Right now I'm in the middle of Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944).
In the wake of Pearl Harbor, a young lieutenant leaves his expectant wife to volunteer for a secret bombing mission which will take the war to the Japanese homeland.
