Just got this in the post.

I was always told about how fantastic this show was. It's decades ahead of what was being made at the time, a real eye opener.

This was made at the same time as they made Batman with Adam West.

Just saw Galaxy Quest again. I love the parody on the original Star Trek :D.

Currently watching 1935 "Crime and Punishment".

Lots of liberties with the book, but well acted and directed...with dandy cinematography.

I like Peter Lorre in general, and I think he is quite good here, shifting from misery and guilt... to cockiness when with the Inspector.

Worth giving it a look...

Great movie!

I just watched Iron Man 3 last week. Love the movie! :D

It was okay. Too much Tony Stark, not enough Iron Man for me.

I saw Iron Man 3 tonight with my wife and some friends. I thought it was a really good movie. Now, I haven't seen Iron Man or Iron Man 2 since they originally came out, but I think part three is the best one so far. Like ECU said there was a little more Tony Stark action (without the suit) in this one, but I think that added a lot to the movie. I think they are doing a good job of bringing the Marvel Universe to the big screen. I grew up collecting comics and the movies are really starting to feel like the comics do. Individual characters and stories are well developed yet there are little hints here and there to remind you of the bigger world that contains other heroes. I'm really looking forward to seeing the next superhero movie in the line up, it's Thor I think.

The Great Gatsby. Slow at times, but a great retelling of a classic story. Visually fantastic.

Thor 2 actually does look good! So does The Wolverine. Unfortunately, for me, the best parts of Iron Man 3 were the previews for those two movies.

Tonight it's going to a film classic. Jack Nicholson's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. It's been a while since I've watched it so it will be refreshing to take in it's subtle charisma again.

Ultraviolet? Saw this while being trapped in a bus in the middle of nowhere in Argentina...and hated it!

Saw V for Vendetta yesterday. Not bad.

A compelling, disturbing, highly intelligent and truly excellent movie of the 'modern' era. Dear me; writing this, I notice that I seem to view anything made in the 60s - and subsequently - as coming under the classification of the term 'modern'.......

I just watched Fargo. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. Mainly cause Ben Affleck is in it :)

I liked that movie, but not enough to own. ;)

I agree. I thought I would hate the A-Team remake but they did a good job.

A decent plot helps a lot.

Saw V for Vendetta yesterday. Not bad.

So was V a terrorist or an individual fighting an oppressive regime? :)

I watched The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey yesterday with my wife and son.

Was it any good? ;)

Possibly both?:D

As they (don't know who) say, one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist. However, I'd argue that V did not use terrorist tactics. He did blow up an abandoned building, but his intent was not to disrupt the flow of society by killing innocent people (which he did not do), but to awaken his fellow citizens into actively resisting the oppressive regime.

The best point of this movie, and something we can relate to, is that the regime constantly was preaching the importance of security, which leads to a discussion (best reserved for PRSI) about how much individual liberty should be sacrificed for security... besides being an excellent film. :)

Ya, the topic itself was very promising (and not badly executed) but after all too much cardboard for me. Entertaining but not thought provoking imho.

Spoiler:

For example, when he ships out the hundreds of thousands of masks at the end, the death of the little girl that got shot because of wearing one and by that lead to the climax, was forced and inlcuded in his plan, he said so himself > question of 'collateral damage' wasn't even mentioned the slightest. The protest at the end itself was unrealistic, fine for me but nothing you'd imagine yourself in such a heated situation > what would have happen if someone threw a stone or what not? Whole plot wouldn't have worked out. It was a nice surprise, but he clearly didn't vouche for pacifism himself, so why his followers are doing this remains totally unclear (they're smart I guess).

V for Vendetta Spoiler

You know it's a story, just like watching 2001. ;) A sequence of events is presented and the viewer decides if it's possible or even plausible. Although V was not a pacifist, he did not urge his fellow citizens to resort to violence but to make a public display. I admit that the reality of such a situation would have a high probability of violence, because a regime like the one portrayed would most likely not go quietly. Fortunately, for the story's sake, when the military commander could not get hold of his superiors for a decision, because they had been neutralized, he decided to stand down instead of starting a blood bath.

I knoq, I know. It's a story and that's fine..;) we had a quite peaceful regime change in East Germany as well, but it came along odd in the context of the movie in my opinion. Did youjust compare it to 2001? :D

Be mild with my spelling, giving the best on my cellphone..

Good point about East Germany, it is possible. :)

Some recent discussion of 2001 in this thread, although the meaning in that case is more vague, it's just a story too. :p Just watched 2010 yesterday- a lot easier to understand, although Dr. Bowman had difficulty explaining exactly what his situation was. ;)

Huntn, I guess you've seen 'em all but just in case you didn't: Solaris by Tarkovskiy, heavily recommended (saw the Clooney one but can't recall much, think the original surpasses it's successor in every aspect)
