A similarly themed trio:
All three are budget indie horror films focused on or around the sea, with Sea Fever being the best IMO. Harbinger Down, expectations were set high although I do think the writing needed more time. Some effects you can also see need more time & money, but you can only go so far on a budget of sub $400K... Kudos to Lance Henriksen for taking a leading role & rest of the cast. All dues as all effects are done practically with no CGI in sight by Amalgamated Dynamics who got screwed over on The Thing (2011).
The Creature Below is certainly rough around the edges, however produced on a shoestring budget of less than $18,000 is somewhat unfair to be overly critical. TBH They achieved what they could with this miniscule sum to produce a full feature. Can forgive the effects etc. but again the writing is the weakest link.
Sea Fever is simply the more polished film having a more coherent narrative, balanced cast & better production value. Equally it had the biggest budget of the trio by far and likely the most industry support. This ones worth a watch if your inclined to...
