That's just an awful idea... I'll take slimmer design any day

Well I'm not sure I'll sign up of this exact idea, but I'm one of I'm sure many, who just don't care about how thin my phone is if I can get 4-7 days charge out of it. I've never understood why making it even slimmer is so important. It just makes it bend more easily and limits the battery. I would actually pay a lot more to have my phone thicker, if it was stronger and had a longer battery. I can understand ladies wanting tiny slim phones to fit in their handbags, but unless you have a special need like this, what is the obsession with making stuff so thin.

I'd love to see a straight shoot out poll: If you had to choose, thicker and more battery or thinner and less battery, who would win.

Even better would be for Apple to give people the choice and offer two thicknesses, and I'll be happy paying more for the longer battery and thicker phone.

I can honestly say that I can't think of what I would need. I will probably know it when it's offered to me IF that happens. This is the first year where I'm left not wanting anything other than MAYBE smaller bezels/footprint, but even that wouldn't likely have me upgrading this year. Needless to say Apple needs to wow me.

This is pretty much my position, I'm happy with my 6 plus. Unless as I mentioned a couple of posts ago they drop in price, I'll probably wait quite a while now before upgrading. The first few iPhone generations saw massive gains, it is now down to adding a few mega pixels to an already perfectly good camera and increasing the speed of an already perfectly quick device. I think new iPhones (and mobiles in general) will become harder to sell.

I hope Apple has something revolutionary rather than evolutionary up their sleeve, perhaps some radical new battery technology or compatibility with satellites for when outside mobile networks, who knows. I suspect however we'll still have a massive bezel, a few more megapixels, a tiny bit thinner, a little bit faster and a little more battery life.

The ones who want thinner and lighter iphones are those who are more concerned about the looks of the phone and seeking to wow their friends.

Anybody who cares about the usefulness of the phone will pick the better battery.

I can actually see price drops coming. Maybe not the next device, but at some point. Particularly in the states we have reached a point where people are buying outright, or on monthly installments. People know exactly what they are paying for their hardware and $650-$1000 is a hard pill to swallow. I think the SE was in MANY ways a test of the lower priced market.

I'd like to see a larger screen in the next version of the SE with a thinner bezel but the same form factor so I can use my iPhone5 cases (battery and waterproof) and at least a 32 Gb base model for storage...

If that doesn't happen, my iPhone5 still works fine.

I suspect that is already seen and attempted fix; i.e. Installment Plan with Yearly Upgrades. Basically a lease by another name.
I suspect it is short term as supplies of legacy devices will drop precipitously unless Apple can find an alternative "used device" market. The planned India market is currently dead in that arena.

A design overhaul
Bigger battery
OIS as standard
Smaller bezel
Louder speaker ( don't care if mono or stereo)
Wide angle front camera
More PPI display, though no need for quad or 4k, imho.

I was thinking the same. Cheaper phones for less affluent economies? There are many mid-high range phones out there now for fraction of the price Apple charges. Maybe the masses are cottoning on and this was Apple's elbow in the bathwater, so-to-speak!

-Smaller bezel
-larger base storage ~32gb iOS is larger then it was five years ago.
-water proofing or at least resistant.
-Custom launchers on iOS. Would allow me to get something where I never have to see those dumb stock apps again.
-ability to change default apps.
-access to NFC

Some things highly unlikely but would make my switch from Nexus 5x better.

-If they remove headphone jack please give me a reach around and give me USB-C it's faster data transfer, allows for faster charging. Downside it's slightly thicker then Lightning.
-remove the home button (software button on the bottom of screen bump screen size to 5"-5.2" with 2k) place touch ID placed on the back. I have used the nexus and rear finger print sensor on the back is pretty convient.
