Am I the only one who would like more USB ports? 4 just isn't enough.

I don't know. 4 isn't enough for me, either. But, I would probably still need a hub so that I can easily access USB ports for the more portable devices. Placing the ports on the back is kind of awkward on my setup.

Four is just enough for me atm but i will propbably need more eventually. More ports is a good route. And if they add say two more or 4 i hope they put them on the left next to the on button.

Why? Because then i dont have to move/adjust my keyboard, mouse, mic, gamepad so much. Less tangled wires too.

they like the minimalist look and want to push thunderbolt, no way are they going to give you that many USB's and move the I/O from the back as it will break there lines and asthetics, they know the people who need extra can just buy a hub for £10 if they need too.

I'm hoping for small SSD and HDD as standard in 27" high model, wishing for 2011 processors instead of 1155 (doubtful) and 4 upgradeable ram slots, best wish of all, desktop GPU's or SLI mobile GPU's, as more games come to the mac and more professionals use iMac due to the cost of the outdated Pro's graphics is the most power for money considering the small jump in processors/memory speeds

Cheaper SSD prices would be nice but I just cant see it happening. A slightly better resolution would be cool. And a 30" display would be pretty tasty too.

I would like a simple SATA3 external SSD slot to slide in my choice of SSD drive. This would be in addition to a standard internal 3.5" hard drive. SSD drives are evolving quickly these days, and subject to more frequent changes than I want to tear a iMac apart to update.

Now that is a great idea! I hope apple is as forward thinking as you.

Want:

Re-design
Lighter - I move mine around all the time, seriously
No optical drive - outdated, bulky rubbish, havn't used one in years
Standard SSD - never going to happen

Don't Want:

Retina
Soldered RAM
Heat Issues

That is pure genius. Would LOVE that!

--Wants--
improved specs
usb 3
still being able to change the RAM
keeping the ethernet port (I'm not getting wireless)
not too fussed about the ODD.
new graphics card
-- dont wants--
Retina

Why don't want retina display???

----------

Why , some of you , don't want a retina display on 27" iMac ???

Don't compriend.....????

Why???

For Graphics work , I creed that biggest resolution on big display , is a True comfortable !

Or not???

Ask you advices , why don't want retina display on new iMac.

Thanks.

Don't want - a port where we can deposit lead and it spits out gold.

(Since all these people are talking about not wanting retina I thought I'd mention something else that's actually highly desirable but we have no chance of actually getting.)

The next iMac is pretty much guaranteed to not have a retina display due to the prices remaining the same. Also the graphics cards and other components are not quite good enough to power the huge resolution.

Best case scenario

I would like

To keep the optical drive (watch dvds on big screen. use as tv)
Usb 3 (More ports)
Ivy Bridge
Large SSD at the very least 512mb + (Music production need the speed, don't want to see beachball no more)
Matte display (No reflections)
30 inch if possible (greedy i know)
Updated graphics, wifi whatever else

I would not like

Thinner / lighter design (if it hurts perfromance)
Soldered Ram (Can't add your own)
Retina display (expensive and pointless on a desktop)
To get rid of OD
Heat / noise issues due to crap new thin designs
Hard to repair
Super expensive SSD options.

Thats it!

Because the increased pixels will generate more heat and slow down the processing. Also a 27" Retina is not going to be the same price as the current 27". And maybe more importantly than all that is why would you need retina on a screen so far away. The only thing I hope they change on the screen is the high gloss.

Why don't want retina display???

Pointless
Increased costs
Increased heat
Massive strain on GPU
Generally slowing down the computer

Don't worry though - there is no way there will be Retina iMacs this time around - check back in around 2 years when the next refresh happens :D

ok.

but , now , an advices that I ask you::

for my 3d, Visual FX work, is good an iMac 2012 , or waiting for Mac Pro 2013 next year ???

Thanks.

Wait until next week to see what the 2012 iMac is. Everything we're saying is just a guess or a wish.

Want
-BTO option up to 32 gigs of ram
-Ivy Bridge ---> Quad Core 3.5 GHz i7
-some fancy graphics card w/ 2gigs ram onboard

Don't Want
-1month shipping date
-Retina (if gpu can't support it w/o being crap)

Doesn't Matter Either Way
-SSD Standard (gonna get it if BTO option)

With this retina thing, I could care less.

If it's not there and the rest of the computer is awesome, sweet! cake!
If it's there and it's awesome, sweet! icing on the cake!
I just don't want it there and it being crap.

Needs:
Ivy Bridge
Updated GPU
Matte Display
User Serviceable RAM
500+ SSD
Firewire 800, USB 3 and Ethernet ports
Apple Sticker

Wants:
Retina Display
Thinner
Lighter

Other:
It's A-OK to remove the Disk Drive. I have no need for it.

No Ivy Bridge and not updated GPU is obviously a deal breaker for me.

If you do a lot of rendering, you're better off on a Mac Pro. I wouldn't expect the new one before WWDC next June.

Why , some of you , don't want a retina display on 27" iMac ???

I think many of us who say that actually do want it, but we also understand that technical and manufacturing constraints exist. Could I get a Retina 27" iMac for $2K? No. Would a Retina 27" iMac have a sufficient GPU to handle the games I want to play at native resolution? No. Ergo, Retina would be at best a waste of money, and at worst so cost prohibitive that I wouldn't be able to buy the iMac to begin with. So Retina is on my "don't want" list.

I want:
- Ivy Bridge
- better graphics card
- 8GB standard ram
- standard SSD
- higher Resolution (not Retina, but a little higher. 21'5 has just 1920x1080 I think it's not enough in 2012)

I don't want:
- long shipping time
- HDD
- higher Price
