More choices than Mail.
I did try using Thunderbird for a while, but it just sucked. And the same goes for Entourage.
I agree about Thunderbird. I use mail also.
Mail.app. So much better than anything else.
i agree. I tried entourage for about a day but then promptly switched back to mail.
Entourage, old, ugly and clunky but at least it always works which is more than can be said for Mail.
Mail is my primary client, but I use Entourage to get my work email as it's on Exchange.
Entourage. Much better for business.
Duplicate due to MacRumors error
Agreed; I also prefer Entourage as it is more business-like.
Entourage for me as it has a PIM attached that connects well with my PDA.
Mail for me on both Macs, although I use Thunderbird as a News Reader.
I love Mail but I have to restart it quite often, otherwise it forgets to check for new emails.
That's strange, and obviously "shouldn't" happen. I use Mail.app, it rocks.
Yeah, I've put it down to me having too many emails (and attachments) on an IMAP account. It doesn't bother me too much.
I use Thunderbird because at the time, mail was weak and Eudora had just ruined everything I had.
Is Thunderbird on the Mac the same as Windows? I've been using Thunderbird on my PC for several years now.
I use Thunderbird... started using it while I was on PC and just loved it!! I have two email accounts a POP3 for personal use and an IMAP for info from the university and edducational stuff and Thunderbird just makes it so easy to manage both...
I never really gave Mail a chance, but since Thunderbird is perfect for my needs I'm pretty sure I won't bother to go through setting up mail...
yeah pretty much...
I use Mail with my gmail account
I agree. I have 4 accounts, two IMAP, two POP3, so thunderbird works great for me.
I started using Thunderbird not too long ago and love it.
The thing I hated about Mail was that my university account (Exchange or IMAP, whichever protocol I fancy) has public folders, and damn, do they make use of them. There are about 25,000 unread messages in public folders, and Mail would try to download them. Thunderbird lets me pick and choose what folders I want to deal with, so I just have my inbox, outbox, sent, etc, selected and its as if the public folders don't even exist.
Restarting, huh? Alternatively, I hear pushing the "Get Mail" button works well.
Oh, I didn't think of that...
It's set to check every minute and neither it's automated checking nor manually pressing the Get Mail button works. Strange bug.
I used entourage until a couple of months ago when I got an Intel machine, now I prefer Mail.
I use Entourage... I love its professional layout and ability to assign a category to almost anything. I like the complete calendar/mail client look.
However, I've tried Entourage on an Intel Mac and I just wouldn't be able to cope with it. Via rosetta start up and general use is soo laggy compared to the native Mail.app. When I get a MB/MBP I'll probably just use Mail or Thunderbird until Office 2008 comes out.
