If you keep your phone in airplane mode and basically not use the screen, perhaps. But then again, we are talking about realistic scenarios rather than hypothetical possibilities.to play devil's advocate, because why not..

there's that...there's also the loss in audio quality which will definitely be noticed if you have decent expensive headphones.
I've said in past posts that I've been looking at the Samsung Galaxy s7 edge.
Possibly taking a year or so out from Apples iPhones.

Removing the headphone jack isn't a deal breaker for me as I use primarily Bluetooth in-ear earphones.
The new iPhone 7 phones feel like an 's' cycle upgrade. Just my thoughts.
I'm sure people will be very interested in its new specs and improved features and that all good.
Each to their own.

You need your ears checked because your hearing is substandard.
I don't begrudge Apple doing whatever they like with their product but I want the jack for now. So it's either going to be an iPhone 6s+ or somekind of "whatever Android".
If you have multiple sources (eg headphones into a computer) or multiple headphones, it becomes more of a pain to manage. But even in a simple case, it still adds friction to involve a dongle. It's one more thing to put up with, or remember, or work around. Eventually, that kind of friction can become too much and it's time to look for something that needs fewer workarounds.
I'm a little disappointed that Apple chose to remove the headphone port. Had there been a worldwide change to another better port then I could see it. Don't try to bring wireless/bluetooth up as that other better alternative because it really just isn't. They're making customers move to their own proprietary port which if history repeats itself, is never a good move. Courage? No, more like arrogance.
Removing the port when almost all other devices in our lives still have it and don't look like removing it any time soon is a little crazy, not courageous. Nobody is asking for a lighter thinner iPhone, what most people really want is wireless charging and better battery life.
My iPhone 6s wears the apple battery case and you really notice the difference when you remove the case, the phone is amazingly light and thin. I very rarely see this slim and light phone because I need it to last the whole day and until the battery case came along it just didn't. With wireless charging I could put it on my desk and it would charge without me noticing it. If they made the whole phone a little thicker and put a better battery in it then I wouldn't need this case.
Obviously there are going to be all kinds of requirements for a phone depending on how you use it, so my requirements may not suit yours. So I'm not trying to change minds, make my problems into yours. I spend my cash on something that works for me and you spend your cash on something that works for you.
I'm not trying to be down on Apple but I feel they've run out of steam. Phil obviously loves cameras although we've seen in previous years how amazing and excited they've been about the camera. In truth I find the camera on a smartphone to be pretty awful in anything but perfect lighting situations. The one on my 6s is supposed to be amazing, it certainly doesn't seem to be for the stuff I use it for.
I know it's hard to constantly wow customers, there's only so much tech out there and Apple tend to add that tech when it is reliable and it has a genuinely experience changing use. Look at RFID and fingerprint security. A perfect example of other rivals throwing the tech in their phones for the sake of adding to a spec list.
With a 6s I suppose I'm not really the ideal customer for the latest iPhone, it doesn't really wow me and I'm not that unhappy with my iPhone (except of course for the battery life) but I do use my Bose in ear headphones to listen to a lot of podcasts and I'd have to stop if my battery got low as i couldn't charge and listen. Do I sense another adapter with 3.5 jack and lighting charge port.
I tried Android a few years ago and hated it, it seemed clunky and a lot less intuitive, maybe it was muscle memory. I'm certainly not planning any switch right now but if I don't see the changes in the next iPhone that suit my needs I may have to start searching for something that does suit my needs. That's just common sense.

I have a feeling that they will create a headphone + lightning port combined. I dont understand how we are supposed to use Maps/Navigation in the car for long trips without having your phone charging. Everyone doesn't have bluetooth to connect their phone to and I'm not going to upgrade my car for a phone. I will keep my 6S as long as possible. By then Apple or a 3rd Party will have a combined port.

Well that poll was pretty pointless huh? See...when you ask opinionated people online a question about something, they're going to give an opinionated answer. You have to factor in different biases as well as other things like whether people might have an opinion about it now that might change over time.
I hated the idea of removing it. Warmed up to it over the past year. Now I'm completely indifferent about it and couldn't give a damn. And seeing as how I can't see a lot of people that are wrapped up into the iOS ecosystem just up and leaving because of a headphone jack, I think the iPhone 7 will sell pretty well.
Oh! And to answer the original question: 7plus in jet black pleaseeeee. Thanks. Already have 3 pairs of Bluetooth headphones I love and haven't used a headphone jack in more than a year. I've been all set for awhile now
If they come up with an adapter with headphone and lightning port combined, it's still doable. However, I did not see one.
Until then, i'm afraid it's not going to work for me. I have a 6, and I don't really need anything else anyway....fortunately

You can't get a USB port added to your built in system? There may be an input that you can use on the built in audio system.

This is really not a deal breaker unless being overthought and creating the worst case scenarios when listening and charging are a must at exactly the same time.
I have never ever needed to charge and listen at the same time on either iPhone or iPad and I am a heavy business and pleasure user (sounds wrong ).
With all of the technology available today to keep a device charged other than a plug and a plug socket, what space satellites are we controlling from our phones that is decimating battery life and breaking is out in cold sweats in case we want to listen to a little bit of Milli Vanilli.
I keep my devices charged and it seems to work for me. An addition of s dongle or the removal of 1 jack which offers a workaround will not cause me to overhaul my phone preference.

I really don't see what the fuss is with "no headphone jack"-gate. I'm currently quite happy with the regular iPhone earbuds so with the 7+ I'll just use the included lightning ones. For fancier listening and my lovely Bose noise cancelling headphones, I'll use the included adapter. What's the big deal?

There's an adaptor. Who cares. I'm not planning on updating any time soon, but even without the headphone jack, when the S version comes out next time, I'll be going to that.
I'll be waiting to see what the Pixel phones offer but I'm not holding my breath. More than likely I'll just go with a matte black 128GB iPhone 7 Plus. I'm not thrilled about the headphone jack removal because I do spend a lot of time driving and listening to audio while charging but I could just put a Bluetooth adapter in my car and go wireless. My fear though is that Bluetooth in the car will be junk and unreliable. It seems there are always people complaining about trying to get their phone to connect to car Bluetooth.
6S plus is very nice. So I think the 6S would be a viable alternative for you, but a lot of people have complained about the battery life so you may want to look at those threads.
I am tempted by the IPhone 7 camera but definitely put off by the lack of headphone jack. I don't want to be dealing with the adapter just because Apple has a bug up their butt to throw out a perfectly serviceable port that allows people to enjoy low cost decent quality accessories.
It isn't just about headphones but the many other kinds of accessories that use that jack. Many people selling wares at craft shows use credit card readers that plug into it. They can't necessarily find suitable replacement accessories that are affordable and so may not be able to get the iPhone 7. The adapter won't play well with some of those card readers. They will now dangle from the phone rather than plug snugly into it.
