I don't know how many old timers are here but remember ADC?
So your Power Mac would have one ADC and one VGA port.
I have a feeling it is going to be one display port and one dual link DVI.
Both of the ethernet will be there since there are some that use both ethernet and run Mac OS X Server.

I hope they add a PCIe 8-pin power port on the motherboard. :D

I hope for the reverse actually - I hope they add a second FireWire on the rear panel so you can actually plug in a pair of Cinema Displays...

Though I reckon Apple may actually kill off FW400 and stick with 800 all round.

To be totally honest, I doubt that Apple will remove Firewire from the Mac Pro. Anyone who pays for their top-of-the-line performance system, like $3000 of Apple goodness, should get all the ports they can handle (I <3 my Mac Pro, by the way.)

But if they do, they'll remove FW400.

one word; unibody. Now *that* would be one hunkin' chunk of aluminium to have to mill out!!

there has to be a 30" (or larger) ACD in the wings, I think they have to wait untill they can have cards with DisplayPort connectors, or more likely both that and DVI--I'm guessing the MP would have to be backwards compatible with the installed base of monitors...

Nostalgically, yes. It was vaguely similar to Apple AudioVision display adapter of 1994.

Too bad the idea of combining everything into one cable never catches on.

I hoped Apple would never return to those horrid proprietary connections

I still use ADC on my G5 with an old 15" Studio Display, it's annoying can't seem to find adapters for real screens these days.
The AudioVision cables were masssiiivve…ehk…lucky my 6100 had nbus VGA.

If the design doesn't change on the MacBook in the next revision, then Apple should have no reason to remove ports.

AWESOME!

Mini Display Port will help to make sure that Mac Pros still have a limited selection of Video Cards!

Good job apple! If we had a choice what kind of shenanigans would we get ourselves into.

Or they could only include a specialized mini display port.

Then require you to purchase dongles for every other connection you wish to use

For the next MP I hope they add ports, namely eSata and more FireWire 800.

The Mini DisplayPort would certainly make life difficult. :(

I'd definitely like to see a couple of eSATA ports though. ;)

I agree with that and as evidence I would point to the difference between the first and second generation MPs and the ports they added to the second generation.

That being said, I have to agree that I would love to see some eSATA added which is pretty easy to imagine happening.
