I have no problem accepting that the phone is made this way, what bothers me is not knowing if its a defect or not.

So then I would just wait it out, come back in a couple of months and confirm. If it is a defect, it gets replaced. If it isn't, you are out only having been left wondering for a while.

If you want another phone, return the phone you have and it should be only days before the credit is made to your card. If you go beyond the 14 day return period you will be at the mercy of an Apple genius in the future who may or may not agree that it is a defect. I have the shadow on my iPhone 6 and decided it wasn't enough of a problem to return it for. Keep in mind that many are seeing this shadow on their iPhone 6 as well as on store models, so it may well be on the next phone you buy or some other defect. Good luck with your decision. Most of my Apple devices have minor screen irregularities that aren't noticeable after awhile but I have returned some that I couldn't live with.

I have the same issue, noticed it right away on launch day when i went to pick up my phone from the apple store. I decided to call AppleCare and got a replacement sent to me, and the replacement device seems a little worst!

I'm just going to keep it but there really is a problem with these devices.

Why not simply return the phone if you are unhappy with it?

If I was the genius though I'd probably would have done the same thing. The perfectionist issue pervading customers is a nightmare and I would get tired of people making mountains out of molehills that don't really affect the performance of their brand new device. If he compared and refused I would assume it's a minuscule difference that is really just in your head (unless you can provide pics of course).

When you are spending £700/£800/£900+ for a phone should you not expect perfection? if there is a defect and you are unhappy with it then they should provide an acceptable resolution, no matter how minor some people think these problems are. People are spending a lot of money on these devices.

I'm having this same issue on a White/Silver IP6, and it's annoying me more than it probably should - I'll wait it out until they're freely available and hopefully get to swap it
