THREAD RESURRECTION:

Okay, hearing Selena Gomez' new song "Good For You" made me think of this old thread I started many years ago. I'd definitely put this song in the "turns me on" category. Like the Fiona Apple song I mentioned in the OP, I think it's the self confidence that comes across in the song that does it for me.

So, that being said, anyone else want to contribute with their thoughts on the topic? What song really "does it" for you?

Yes, @mscriv: What an extraordinary idea for a thread. Anyway, I have taken the time and trouble to read the thread in its entirety.

Well, I love music and listen to a very wide variety of types of music, and while music moves me at times, makes me think at others, it serves to soothe me, yet articulates and channels anger, allows me to focus and concentrate, relaxes me and offers a form of food for the soul (that's you, Mr Mozart), I can honestly say that no song has ever 'done it' for me in the way you have described, not even 'Je t'aime' which @iJohnHenry mentioned a few pages back a few years ago.

C'mon Sceptical, really...? There is no song ever that has made you feel romantic or turned your thoughts to the sexual in any way. It could be anything about that song, sometimes it's the rhythm/beat, sometimes the lyrics, sometimes the voice of the artist, or sometimes a memory associated with the song.

Seriously, no.

I brood to music, and get mellow to it, and wallow in nostalgia (the personal and political, not the sexual). It thrills me, empowers me, enables me to think and concentrate - and, this, I do treasure, eases my soul - that much is true - but the sexual, - with music - no, never.

Fair enough.
