Not anymore...;)

No countdown clock on the main page? They've done it for announcements...

Yeah, an announcement that we know the hour of because of an event or already told time. We have no idea what time exactly it's coming out and iOS updates aren't worthy of a countdown.

I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks tomorrow evening, and I'm in a dilemma as to whether to wait until I get back, or risk possible issues whilst I'm away from a reliable internet connection.

Not to mention that the first day it releases eleventy billion people are going to be turning apple servers into molasses. Might as well just wait til Friday for the servers to cool and bug reports to come in.

Or you can just pirate it. I had the iOS 6 GM downloaded five hours after it was seeded to developers. I do that for all the releases even if Apple has officially released it because I like having the IPSW file available to me whenever I need it.

Uh huh, not everyone has to be on the bleeding edge of dork factor 10. I might download by the end of the weekend, might not. It's not that important.

Well no, I just like being prepared for when the untethered jailbreak comes out and say something happens and I have to restore my iPhone. I don't want to wait for it to download again. Now I know that iTunes is supposed to know you've already downloaded it, but sometimes it doesn't and starts doing it again. It takes just about the same amount of time to go online and download it than through iTunes. Err, if you know how to find it.

You could download the GM version (which should be the same as the one that gets released tomorrow so it doesn't matter if you download it now) and install it now, tomorrow or whenever. You just have the IPSW ready for the install even if your internet is gonna be sloppy. Get the file today, install it tomorrow.

I downloaded a torrent of it right now, took ~35mins for the almost 1GB file (BIG!) of the 4S on a 4MB connection.
