Back in December, I originally bought a 16gb touch, because I felt that I didn't need the 'phone' bit.
All was fine for a while, but by February, I found out that I really needed/longed for having a data connection everywhere, so I sold my touch and bought a 16gb iPhone.
Damn that Jobs. When he said " The iPod touch is training wheels for the iPhone", he must have had me in mind, LOL.

Anyway, in short, I guess it comes down to whether you're happy with your current phone or not. If you are happy, then get the touch, and vice versa.

I still think i will get an phone if i get a touch now i a m more confused on what to get

Get the one that YOU think looks better. I hope you don't do this with dates. Have your friends pick who they think looks hotter.

ok which one is best looking (your opinion), iphone white or the new metallic look of the touch?
The iPhone in white wins, no question. I was in an Apple store today to look at the new nano and touch, and honestly the iPod Touch models on display looked horrific - it was like a car boot sale (guess that'd be a "yard sale" or something if you're in America). The backs were covered in fingerprints (which I'd expected) but also gouges! Like someone had been attacking them with a knife or something. I know the display models get handled a lot, but they are tethered to the table so there's a limit to how much abuse they can have suffered. I really was surprised that Apple would think anyone who picked one of those up in the store would then buy one.

The display iPhones looked much more resilient, and my own white iPhone is bearing up fine after two months (although I do keep it in a Beyza Roadline leather case).

(Incidentally, the new nanos are clearly far more scratch proof-like the 2G nanos were- but the need to rotate to view video is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen on an Apple product. Did they fire Jonathan Ives or something?!?)

Apple are on a never ending quest for the least resilient materials and finishes in order to force everyone into buying cases, films, skins and 'socks'. After the soft glossy plastic and ultra thin layer of chrome on the 1st gen Nanos and 5.5 gen iPods, the turn has now come to polished stainless steel. Not brushed, no, that would hold up well; instead let's polish it like a mirror so that it will scratch when dust particles happen to drift by. People are more likely to replace their iPods on a regular basis if the old one looks like it's been to hell and back. (A few years ago I would've written that off as a loony tin foil hat conspiracy theory, but now I'm convinced...)

Yeah, I have a white one that's completely naked and after a month there's not a single visible scratch on it, not even on the silver logo on the back.

Well... the 3rd gen wide nano wasn't a hit, people liked the form factor of the 1st and 2nd gen. But those had a miniscule display the size of a small stamp. This was the only possible way of combining the desired form factor with a screen large enough for video. I think Ive designed this one himself and I think he's quite proud, too. But if you ask me, they should've made the horizontal position the default and turned the click wheel 90 degrees clockwise.

A. do you need a camera?
B. do you need the phone part?
C. do you want to have access to data anywhere?

If you answered yes to 2/3 get the iPhone. If you are cheap get the ipod touch because its cheap and the new version just came out.

iPhone

- Has a camera
- Make phone calls
- Has access to data anywhere
- Built in Mic
- Louder speaker
- Easy ringer on/off switch
- MUCH MUCH MUCH more scratch resistant casing
- More sturdy

iPhone is the way to go! It's an integrated device with everything in it. Why carry an iPod and an phone when you can have a better, more complete experience in the iPhone! Not to mention that the iPhone's phone functionality kills any other phone. Unless you desperately NEED the 32GB, get the iPhone.

I would much rather have the iPhone for a few reasons...
1. You're connected wherever you are
2. You only need to carry one device.
3. iPhone has a gps system while the iPod Touch doesn't
4. iPhone has the extra goodies like a camera, built in mic, and a better speaker.

I have the iPod Touch now, and when you're not connected to Wi-Fi it's just a plain old iPod with a few games. The only down side of the iPhone is the contract, but it's not ridiculously over priced.
