According to this morning's rumors, the iPhone 5 will come out end of September along with iOS 5. I was hoping to become a first time iPhone user this June or July. Is it worth using a Blackberry Curve 8900 for almost 3 years? What to do? Don't want to buy the current iPhone 4 right now and then want the iPhone 5 and be not able to upgrade???

I think this rained a lot of parades. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for OS X Lion but would like a new iPhone too. I can't see them having too major events. UGH

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Just wait it out.

Do what I did.

Buy the iPhone 4, enjoy it now and when the iPhone 5 eventually comes out, sell the IP4, buy the IP5 at full price. The amount you get for the iPhone will offset to a great amount the purchase price of the iPhone 5.

The advantage of this, is you get to enjoy the iPhone now and when the iPhone 5 comes out you can see if that's what you really want and you won't have to wait in those crazy lines.

I did this for the iPad 1 and to be honest, after seeing what the iPad 2 had to offer, I'm sticking with the 1. You may find the updates to the 5 not really large and so the iP4 may make more sense.

I agree. Normally it would be smart to just wait it out but I really need at least a 4G capable phone soon. Was willing to wait til this summer but not early fall. Selling though makes me wonder, how much would a 5 month iPhone 4 go for nearly at the end of its life cycle? Why would anyone want it if the 5 just came out?

Well, can I buy a subsidized iPhone 4 and then before the iPhone 5 is released can i sell it for the price of an unlocked? Since then i won't be getting the iPhone 5 subsidized.

You are hijacking my thread!!! I don't see why you wouldn't be able to?

I'm in the same boat. Getting married this summer so I'll be starting a new family plan and wanted IPhones. I won't be too happy if I sign up for a IPhone 4 and only a few months later, a new one comes out. Oh well. It's like that new Best Buy commercial. Eventually it all gets outdated.

When the iPhone 4 first came out I was a 3G user. I sold my 16GB 3G for $200.. Signed the contract with At&T for the iPhone 4 and paid $200.. Essentially my upgrade was free. iPhones resale value is amazing. People want them, jailbreak them for other carriers or just plain don't want a contract. In Sept I will be 18 months in which AT&T gives you FULL credit for a new phone.. So we shall see!

P.s. We just bought a 3GS to replace my husband broken one (he's not eligible for upgrade) from craigslist. Cheapest we could find.. 32GB $180.. USED!! and it's a 3GS!
