PC users are not smartphone users; so they have a hard time with learn the touch screen and how it actually works! People who are 45 and over have a hard time with smartphones and in general mobile devices. They like keys and pointing devices that click to make a selection from an arrow prom!

Utter nonsense and right up there with the most ridiculous things I have read here.

Let's suppose Apple Pencil support is in the works for the cheaper/low cost 9.7" iPad. What would this mean for the "killer features" of the Pro line? Apple Smart Keyboard? Or are they betting the farm on screen size and, perhaps, FaceID?

So boring!

AirPad - 5 year old tech
MacBook Air - great tool, Tim will find a way to destroy it. I’m sure he will show us some great new dongles.

iPads - course the price has to drop, andriod tablets are much better value

Watch bands - tim’s Legacy - won’t say more

Iphone new colours - course that is awesome! Now i’ll spend 1000 now, and not get an andriod with something 20 times better than Siri, better integration with the tech world, and allows for more choices. Come on!

Airpods - actually, one good hardware device. Hopefully it gets more touch controls and allows for multi connections at once.

I'd buy an updated pencil if -
1. It wasn't so freakishly long
2. The lightning connector was female so you could just charge it from any cable lying around everywhere.

I am more likely to have my iPad lying around than a spare lightning cable. I think Apple made the right choice in having the make Lightning connector on the pencil.

Since we're NOT really expecting much from Apple on March 27th, I think it's fair to play the Let's Predict the Market Cap, for the Day After ... I'll start, I predict $799B @ the Close on 3/28 ! ... that's right, UNDER $800B for the first time in awhile ! ... that's still $99B above where I think they should be trading at ... that should happen in April or May, followed by Tim's forced resignation shortly thereafter.

cheaper MacBook all very well - i'd prefer the option of a 1TB ssd though. 2 TB probably too much to hope for i suppose

Totally out of the ball park, but this would be a perfect time for a new Mac Mini:

  • It's either going to be updated or phased out. There are a few sales this weekend on them, could be an emptying of remaining stock? I don't know how much longer Apple can sell it at the current spec point for (even for Apple, $500 for a 4-generations old processor, 500GB 5200RPM HDD, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM is an insane price for anyone who spends more than 10 minutes researching a purchase).
  • Perfect for educational environments, like computer labs. Small device, works with existing peripherals (mainly displays), and a low price point comparable to the typical Dells and HPs institutions buy today (i3/i5 processors, small SSDs, small box sizes). They could even sell a new-generation "eMac" version with a keyboard and mouse in the box. iMacs, especially in the sizes currently offered, are just too much more expensive than PCs, and would involve tossing out a lot of good displays out (usually 20/21" 1080p or 900p).
  • Anecdotally, a lot of schools I see are still maintaining traditional desktop computer labs and workstations in classrooms. Laptops, especially Macs, just don't hit the price per 'educational experience' ratio (I mean this all around: performance, product durability, extensibility w/ peripherals, charging carts, etc.). Even tablets are questionable. iPads have great software support, but by the time they're purchased, outfitted with cases and keyboards (depending on use cases), they're already at or above a low/mid end desktop setup, and more prone to damage/loss.

Most of this is just a long-running hope, but the fact we're getting a specific education event leaves me hoping for a new Mini. Would do a lot to expand the Mac community back in the affordability of a lot of schools around the country.

Apple does not believe that a touch screen laptop will sell! If they believe in it; they would have done it years ago! Even the Windows 10 laptops; people don't want to shell out the addition $100-$200 more for that touch screen feature. PC users are not smartphone users; so they have a hard time with learn the touch screen and how it actually works! People who are 45 and over have a hard time with smartphones and in general mobile devices. They like keys and pointing devices that click to make a selection from an arrow prom!
Only three problems here that I see:

1. PC users are not smartphone users - wrong
2. People over 45 have a hard time with smartphones and mobile devices - wrong
3. People don't want to "shell out" extra bucks for laptops with touchscreen - wrong

Other than that, you make a good point.
[doublepost=1521878779][/doublepost]The only way Apple will get serious use in public schools is if they somehow offer a massive reduction in price for their devices. Thousand dollar laptops, tablets, and phones will not make headway into a market with underpaid teachers and schools plagued by municipal, state, and federal tax cuts affecting education and infrastructure. That's why $300 Chromebooks and PCs are making headway, especially if offered with bulk discounts. Apple might be able to court the private prep schools attended by the wealthy.

Apple Pencil with a W1 chip and put a female lightning connector.

I can use the pencil over several days before it needs charging so charging it on the iPad isn’t really necessary.

OK, here goes. My predictions!

1. They somehow got their hand on a batch of CRTs and have decided to bring back the eMac, only with a core i3 and 4gb of soldered on RAM.
2. ePads!
;)

What to expect? New emojis, security issues and Wristbands Pro for Apple Watch.

What to wish? (i)Book Author for iOS with Markdown support, iOS 12 Preview with Desktop/macOS mode, iPhone X Plus (height like X, wide as current Plus) with USB-C connector (for Desktop mode)

I would be very/super surprised if Apple announced all this new stuff at a non-streaming event.

Am I the only one bothered that the iPhone X, Apple Watch and AirPods are not placed straight on the AirPower charger?

I think it's to show off, that you don't have to align them perfectly for it to work. just throw it on the matt

Apple needs to put the iPad touch screen on a laptop. That will sell units!

tim cook has basically said that will happen when he's dead and gone but not before. same with Mac OS and iOS literally merging into one software

agreed. honestly I suspect that this is going to be a software and services event and nothing more

I also was a naysayer, but having seen primary school students use touch screen enabled Windows 10 laptops, I can see advantages. I also think iPads are generally a negative in classrooms. An ARM based touch screen low cost Apple laptop would be great. But I have been looking at rumours since the dawn of the consumer internet and I know the hype never matches reality. "Wow, a 100 mHZ speed bump for the G3! My dreams runneth over."

These rumor mill predictions are getting really stupid.

Does anyone really think Apple is going to release all or any significant number of these things: New iPad, new Apple Pencil, new MBA, new iPhone X color, new SE2, new phone cases, airpad, etc? At a non-steaming event, at some Highschool?

More like this:
9.7 iPad with 8GB storage for $299
Showing off the stupid classroom software.
