even if improvements to software and siri then I'm happy...I think homepod should go from strength to strength.

Why even bother having a WWDC this year? Rumor's of no hardware, but no worries, there will be plenty of animojis and watchbands! Never underestimate their importance. Also some effort will be made to patch last year's buggy software. Oh yes, I almost forgot, more beta releases because software is never done, it is always in beta. When will Apple leave Beta and come back to the land of Alpha?

No hardware? The stock is gonna drop.... Last I checked most of Apple's profit still comes from selling hardware.....

I guess I saved money tho. No tempting new Macbook Pro or iPad to spend on

"This year we are going to focus on 'under the hood' improvements, bug fixes, and so on... as we did in the much-loved Snow Leopard era several years ago. However, this year we're going to do something MORE. Later today, Apple.com will launch a feature where our users can formally submit ideas for hardware and software innovations they'd like to see and problems or issues they'd most like to see resolved.

We're going to collect those suggestions for 30 days, summarize them into lists at least 100 items long, then present that list to our users again to rank by picking their top 10 or 20 most important to each user.

THEN, Apple will use that customer-centered priority to address those one by one. By this time next year, we will be committed to getting every great big idea most desired by our customers into our development pipeline and every single problem or bug resolved. Software updates throughout the year will regularly reflect our progress directly against those lists. Each major update will bring more and more of what customers want from Apple the most.

Today, we take the biggest step in Apple's history to more tangibly focus on delighting our customers than ever before. We will redefine the meaning of the term 'customer-driven' by taking it to a level only Apple can achieve. Our amazing team of internal and external developers will be charged with making it happen quickly and up to our legendary "just works" standard, unmatched by any competitor.

By WWDC19, we expect new dazzling features most wanted by our customers to be in a new public pipeline and issues & bugs that matter most to be resolved to our customer's maximum satisfaction. In 5 years, we expect people to look back at this period as the year that Apple innovation intersected with customer wants like never before. The future that flows from this should be brighter than it's ever been
."

I don't expect anything like that. But imagine the ramifications of that kind of commitment for modern Apple to very tangibly reconnect with customers in such a dramatic and direct way.

I doubt even the maximum "Apple is always right" players could not find something to answer Apple prompts about what else they would like to see in iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, etc... and I doubt even they could not jot down at least a few items in a bug list. Get all that down in one place, group rank those lists by importance to us consumers and then knock them out one by one.

Imagine.

My eyes glazed over looking at the list of possible announcements. None of it helps my business. Little of the functionality does anything for me personally.

I remember being excited by new hardware and amazing software capabilities - the term was "insanely great"

Not anymore

Would you mind serving on Apple's Board of directors!

Predicting a Homepod Lite to pair with an existing Homepod for stereo sound but without the expensive smart functions. With Apple’s pricing policies this would easily save consumers around $20.

We’re just getting around to updating the family Macs to High Sierra (from Sierra, which has been solid). Just in time for [California Mtn Range Name].

Similar thread yesterday, so I'll make a similar post: maintenance/performance updates to macOS / iOS / tvOS / watchOS sound good... I just don't know when you need a keynote at a major conference for that. If I were Apple, I'd reserve keynote addresses for when I had major news to announce. Doesn't have to be hardware, but it sounds like even on the software side, this is going to be a very understated update. Not sure why you gather a flock of journalists and livestream all your senior execs on stage for that.

I realize this is more geared toward software, but Apple must realize anger and resentment from many of it's customers is building. They really need to put something out there on the hardware front. Going though a keynote without any hardware will truly accelerate the alienation of many, many customers. At least announce a hardware event very, very, very soon. If there is no gear tomorrow, we are supposed to wait until September's dog and pony show?

Hopefully since it focuses on performance iOS 12 will return the ability to play podcasts to my iPhone 5S that was taken away in the last couple of releases.

Still working on thinner MBP with butterfly keyboard. Besides all the other mfg have not put out their 8th gen laptops either. (Sarcasm)
The key switches in the Magic Keyboards are so great, I have no idea why they don’t use what already works. ‍

Never ask the masses what they want.

I still don't see how they're going to turn "bug fixes" into 2 hours. That leads me to think there might be more.

At least introduce the dang charging mat...
There will plenty of new stuff for developers to sink their teeth into. Not so much for customers.

An AirPower announcement would be awesome, but I personally don’t think it’s likely; there’s really nothing developer-related with AirPower. I do expect it in time for the holiday shopping season though. :)

no hardware??? how is this a surprise giving how Apple treated their Mac line for last god-knows how long...

Or, possibly, since this is software developers conference Apple would rather give hardware its own focus and importance in an event focused on hardware later in the year. It's a matter of seeing what you want to see really.

Sounds like a keynote to pass on. Probably the first keynote in 12 years I won’t watch.

Looks an absolute snore fest and listening to Federighi bang on for an hour about how iOS is still **** how well post pc era isn’t doing, and how much more unreliable they can make Mac OS with outdated overpriced hardware with more flaws less features and the worst pro line up we’ve ever seen.

Can’t bare it.
