"Apple was initially planning to introduce a range of new features that included a refresh of the Home screen with a redesigned app grid, a revamped CarPlay interface, improvements to core apps like Mail, and new features for the Camera and Photos apps, but these features have been delayed until 2019, according to Bloomberg, to focus on under-the-hood improvements."

meaning they are not ready. it's been 3-4 years since UI changes?

Hope Apple will provide more Animoji for us to express our angers towards the company.
If their products actually make you angry why don't you just use something else? I'll never understand the negativity. If you don't like what they are doing show them with your wallet, its the only way to potentially get Apple to change its course.

Why even bother having a WWDC this year? Rumor's of no hardware, but no worries, there will be plenty of animojis and watchbands! Never underestimate their importance. Also some effort will be made to patch last year's buggy software. Oh yes, I almost forgot, more beta releases because software is never done, it is always in beta. When will Apple leave Beta and come back to the land of Alpha?

Because thousands of DEVELOPERS go to get hands on learning about DEVELPMENT!

sigh. Thank the goddess for the ignore function.

I realize this is more geared toward software, but Apple must realize anger and resentment from many of it's customers is building. They really need to put something out there on the hardware front. Going though a keynote without any hardware will truly accelerate the alienation of many, many customers. At least announce a hardware event very, very, very soon. If there is no gear tomorrow, we are supposed to wait until September's dog and pony show?

Apple knows what they read here is not real. Your anger is not shared by the average user. Have a nice day.

so the 2018 mac mini dream is probably dead right? glad i upgraded the cpu and gpu in my cMP recently, found some good deals. going to keep this cheesegrater going for many more!
I am waiting for a portable Mac Mini with 10 hour battery, basically the fastest iMac Pro with USB ports, HDMI, MagSafe, SuperDrive, but no screen or keyboard, controlled wirelessly by low cost iPad or laptop.

I'd like you to have a nice day too! Never said said my anger is shared by the average user. The more mainstream user Tim caters to walks in to an Apple store points to a notebook and says I'll take it. Great! But a significant percentage I would think does not share the same casual purchasing experinece. If you were a CEO, would you think the loss of even 2-3% sales (an example folks) is acceptable? No. Because it's so easy for 2-3% to turn into more. That's where all the bankrupt companies went. Nothing happens overnight but at some point folks will be in a board room and ask "what happened?".

Apple are in serious need of a Major hardware release. Usable MacBook pros with ports. Updated Mac mini's. New user upgradable without one million peripherals Mac pros. If they don't do it this WWDC then I've lost hope they will ever do major releases.
If the new MacMini has a power cord and no internal battery then I’ve lost hope.

Their products don’t make me angry. TC’s way of running the company and their removal of useful features to make the MBP too thin to be reliable do. The keyboard on the MBP is just rubbish.

One reason is because some are proud followers of a company that put out products of a quality that could not be disputed. It makes some unhappy that now many Windows users have a real opportunity to laugh at Apple users. It used to be we could shrug that off as "you just don't get it". Now even hardened Apple users have to say "wait a minute...."
WE DON'T WANT to use something else. But we don't want to be treated as some boardroom joke for a company making gobs of money. A little respect goes a long way for loyalty.

wireless charging... I wonder what is taking Apple so long.. I think there is a hidden feature.

Odd that it's take so long to produce

Do fusion drives still make sense in 2018? Big 1TB+ SSDs are getting so cheap now I hardly see the point. For any normal consumer, SSDs should be more than sufficient. Always fast performance and no need to worry about the potential unreliability of spinning media.

So why would Apple bother with a "new Apple Filesystem for Fusion Drives"?
Given that they still sell brand new 2017 iMacs with spinners only (not fusion) I doubt we’ll see Apple going pure ssd this year.

hahahaha. thanks for the chuckle. "tim" as you call him is the CEO of the most successful company in the history of the world. Folks in the board room and stockholders like myself are cheering him on. maybe you should send your resume, just in case. Good luck.

Reminds me of my Siri experiences with music playback. It’s roughly a 50/50 chance that when I tell Siri to shuffle a playlist in my library, it responds saying, “sorry, I can’t find playlist (...) in your library.”

Also, one of the iOS updates a while ago broke something so that whenever I said, for example, “Shuffle playlist Christmas Music,” it would start playing a random album from Apple Music that contained the words, “Christmas Music” in its title. That issue was particularly annoying. They fixed it with the next iOS update.

Anyway, I’ve given up on expecting Siri to get any better long ago. At this point, I’ve gone back to the old way of manually starting playlist playback.

Siri is nothing but a sad disappointment in my eyes.
Yes I occasionally try to get Siri to do something like start playing a playlist or responding to a text, and then I'm immediately reminded why I don't use Siri...

Cheap? Upgrading a MBP from 256gig to 1TB is $600 ($800/TB). Upgrading the iMac Pro from 1 to 4TB is $2800 ($933/TB). SSD is expensive. It takes COURAGE to buy SSD if you're a mac user.

Oh, did you mean the SSD the the rest of the world enjoys which is sub-$200/TB for good quality up to about $400/TB for fantastic quality better and faster than Apple? Well that can't possibly any good, it doesn't have Timmy's magic pixie dust in it. /sarcasm

So essentially no new hardware that everyone wants and software bug fixes that should have been corrected in regular updates. This is going to be the best WWDC yet. :(

Who cares about new hardware and software? This is WWDC not some cheesy consumer event. It's all about watch bands and animojis. That's what power users and developers want.

I do hope Apple upgrades that old-fashioned useless touch bar on the MBPs to something more modern and useful like physical functions keys though.

And that’s a bad thing? You wanted Apple to continually release new hardware and not fixing buggy software? Seriously?
Go back to what Steve Jobs said. Apple works like a big startup. This nature allows them to come up with exciting new things, but at the same time can spread things a bit too thin. Now they’re regrouping back to focus on fine tuning the software. To me that’s a good thing. It’s not like there’s huge advances in PC hardware anyway.

I can't remember the last keynote that wasn't a disappointment in general.

Especially the "hello again" event, that was a huge letdown.
The keynotes have been “disappointed” because we had almost everything leaked already, and since nobody can match Jobs in t rms of presentation, they keynotes ended up a bit meh, especially since we already knew the things they were going to announce.

Woo hoo!!! New watch bands and emojis!!!!

Too bad I can't buy anything from Apple, been trying to make money using my old trashcan Mac Pro and ancient Mac mini. Not easy to do anymore. Hard to imagine Apple makes it hard to be creative.

Makes it hard? Please.

Not Apple’s fault on your lack of creativity. Look inward.

Apple has the tools. User ambition is still necessary.

After having the iphone X, I think I'm okay with buying the older 10.5" ipad for the touch ID. Having no OLED in this newer model makes it a super easy decision.
