Biggest problem I have with those are the fact most monitors now use their VESA mount for their own stands - haven't seen many with open VESA mount & a separate stand that connects somewhere else

They used to be made this way but not many any more

This was my way to make an iMac with a decent monitor (one for a home user who cares more about refresh rate than high end color & extreme resolution)

Mini pro base 16GB; 32 GB (+200); 64GB (+400)
1TB (+150); 2TB (+300); 4TB (+400)
…..and, in the most incredible design modification we’ve EVER made to the Studio Display…. It now goes up and down and tilts in a standard configuration!
i think if base goes to 12GB, pro can't remain at 16GB because the gap would be too small, maybe pro in range of 18-24GB?

How expensive will these products be?

Here in Europe, Apple raised the prices of the new iPhone YET AGAIN, compared to the previous generation. Even though they are hardly any better (a little better camera, AI features down the line - that's about it).

Apple products are simply getting too expensive. Apple's sales numbers must have taken a hit at this point..?

Tim Cook is more like Uncle Scrooge now.

Here in Europe, Apple raised the prices of the iPhone 16 models by several hundred dollars, compared to their iPhone 15 counterparts. Even though they are hardly any better (a little better camera, AI features down the line - that's about it).

I'll be surprised if prices are not up by about $100 (especially if the RAM does increase).

Hopefully Apple feels some need to compete with the great windows processors that are coming out, but luckily for Apple: PC prices are up too.

"Introducing the A$D 2, now a little taller height on stand to perfectly accommodate the new Mac Mini. We think you'll love it!" ;)
I think you are right on! I currently use my M2 Pro in a standing position behind the A$D to clean up the aesthetic.

My iPad mini 6 ended in the wash yesterday. Needless to say, I am much more curious to find out what is revealed next week. I'm fine if they continue the low-end strategy (A17, 8 GB RAM, etc.).

The A17 never came out, its was the more expensive A17 Pro on iPhone 15 Pro's. Now you have the less expensive A18 and A18 Pro. Yes they would all entail 8GB DRAM.

The 15pro and 16pro were same price though

If it's just a bump in chips and slight changes in hardware, I don't see why Apple would make an event out of it.

The Mac mini rarely gets redesigned. Also, M4 Pro and M4 Max are new chips so they require some explanation and promotion. There's plenty for an event. It'll be interesting to see if they make Halloween an annual tradition.

Here the price went up with about 150 dollars. Apple is cranking up the prices for nearly every new generation now. It's really starting to add on. These Apple devices are getting ridiculously expensive, certainly here in Europe.

The SSD upgrade prices alone is an insult. I guess that's all we are to Apple, mindless consumers. Just add some more rainbow colors, and "let them eat cake" I guess...

I've basically stopped buying new Apple products at this point. I'm married to Logic Pro, so I will have to update my 2018 Mac Mini soon, but I really can't justify buying this stuff anymore.

I like the weight and heft of the current Mac Mini. My M2 Pro sits nice and still on my desk, every one of the ports is occupied and any force of wires pulling on it doesn't move it at all. I think this smaller form factor looks lighter and prone to skidding across my desk unless it has rubber feet! I like that currently, all of the ports are in a row, rather than stacked above each other, should the Pro maintain the same number of ports overall.

Fortunately, we’ll only be in the dark for a few more weeks. I myself would like to see them move the M Pro over to the Studio chassis, and just have the new, smaller Mini chassis be in its own category, like the iMac, with just the M.

I’m not saying that’s likely, but that’s what I’d like to see. Launch the new Mini and the M4 Pro/Max Studio now and announce the M4 Ultra, available in early 2025. Then, in early 2025, do another event launching multiple new and/or updated displays along with the M4 Ultra hardware. At WWDC, launch both the M5 Air and the M5 Vision Pro.

Just my 2¢.

TruckI'm not sure that it is clear that there is even going to be a M4 Ultra in the old sense

As someone who is trucking around heavy workload with Macs for a living long enough to know terms such as “Bondi Blue” — all I want from Apple at the point is keeping my trucking business possible and attractive.

The substance of what constitutes Studio today — its bandwidth, reliability (which is the must for the truck), media processing abilities, thermals ready for days of overwork, freedom to plug in any screen I want to — cannot be substituted by any laptop. Period.

But I prefer my truck being loved by its manufacturer — just like the rest of the family is. The family tradition deserves it.

Did I mention that being loved usually keeps resale value reasonably high? It’s considerable, when you investing such accountable amounts into trucks, as I do.

Plus, I know that some day — as we are collectively surfing the peaking Moore curve — all the mentioned substance of today’s Studio may fit eventually in other, possibly smaller device. I’m fine with it, because I’ll continue trucking with it. Just different wheels, that’s all.

But… abandoning the truckers, leaving us empty handed — before the next gen will get their expertise and before turnip’s makers (as I will call software developers in this rolling not-mine analogy) has a chance to learn the truck template properly — that would be unsustainable. And, I suppose it won’t happen.

So, see you along the road. Toooo-toot!

I just had a look at the existing iPad mini next to a super slim M4 iPad Pro and an iPhone 16 Plus at the Apple Store. There's no technical reason an iPad mini can't be as slim as either of these devices running the iPhone's silicon with just a larger screen and a probationally larger battery to power that screen. Apple's silicon design and component miniaturization has come a long way in the last 3 years since the iPad mini was updated. I bet we're in for a stunningly slim new iPad mini later this month.

To some degree, being wider & taller is what allows devices to be thinner.

For some components/systems, volume is the issue; which is easier to solve for if the X and Y are both bigger, allowing the Z to get a little thinner.

Not even sure what you're talking about. "Here in Europe" I remember buying an iPhone 4 back in 2010 for 750 euros. With inflation correction that would be 1030 euros today, while iPhone 16 starts at 969 euros as we speak. 🤷‍♂️

Inflation is not exactly the same worldwide, it depends on the country and currency. Apple operates with slightly different pricing in different parts of the world. This should be fairly obvious... 🤷‍♂️
