That problem can be solved by having the tip's shaft slide into the barrel of the Pencil; kind of like the Pencil2's tip but with magnets instead of screwing.
'cause screwing is so hard.... :)
No I get it... magnets are cool.
I guess I'll have to be convinced when I see it.

I would love to see an Apple Pencil that would also work on iPhone and Magic TrackPad, and would charge not only with iPad but also iPhone and AirPod's MagSafe charger.

I loved iPod Socks as much as the next guy, but a Pencil-only announcement would be up there amongst the greats; right alongside Apple Rechargeable Batteries.

I have Apple's Rechargeable Batteries. It's saying something when Apple is ashamed to place Apple logo on the battery.

Apple wouldn't add magnetic tips, if they didn't intend to create a wide variety of different kinds to use (and not just simple replacements). And more importantly, create a wide variety to overcharge us for.

No iPads at all this year is a bad sign for the product.…which is why my bet would be on SOMETHING happening this month. A new pencil seems silly without new iPads.

If Apple can see their way clear to announce tomorrow ONLY AN APPLE PENCIL I would have no choice but to buy one. Even though I have a pencil 2 and never use it. Sorry to think there will be iPads announced as well. Ok ok just kidding. These are probably damn good new products. 🍸😺

That would require some special dongle. Oh please don’t give Apple the idea to make more dongles.

Motion or taps on pencil a la AirPods Pro to change behavior of stylus makes more sense to me. Different jesters to switch to eraser like on a pencil would be way cool but prob too fiddley.

Someone here mentioned starlight colour for the Pencil and I'd honestly love that, especially in a glossy finish 🤩

No, make it work with the defectively huge trackpads on Apple laptops.

The failure to make the Pencil work on Apple's own computers, year after year, is embarrassing.

It really doesn’t make any sense for Apple not to include the ipad mini & ipad air in the updates tomorrow. By all indications, they will be minor updates, so why wait until next year? Doesn’t make sense. Update them now before the Holiday rush to help boost iPad sales.
No new iPad mini until next year apparently.

Expecting to see magnetic swapping tips as the only change. Hopefully Apple will keep the price of the Pencil same.

If I had to pick, I would say iPad and pencil announced at the same time.
Yep.

Apple Pencil 3 and spec bumps for iPad 10.9, Air and mini.

The new pencil is, of course, only compatible with these new iPads and the M2 iPads Pro.

iPad 10.9 will, however, probably not work with Pencil 3 and instead get a new low-end Pencil that charges via the USB-C port.

Embarrassing from your perspective, sure.

But the increased sales from arbitrarily limiting Apple Pencil to only work on iPads is something Apple’s shareholders are very proud of.

The Apple Pencil's the most underused Apple product I own. I occasionally whip it off the top of my iPad just to scroll through a few screens, but basically I hardly ever use it. It's pretty pointless........
