What to Expect From October 18 'Unleashed' Apple Event: New MacBook Pros, AirPods 3 and More

If it had a SD slot a lot of photographers are going to be wondering how to push their CF Express A and B cards into it. But on a more serious note, I could do with more TB3 ports as it would let me offload two CF Express B cards at the same time as having my other field equipment plugged in. I have nought on SD, HDMI, and USB-A... its 2021.
I am fully with you, and I have gotten lots of "thumbs down" in a few other threads for not wanting to have legacy ports

Have fun trying to get this before the supply chain issues kick in and you have to wait until January.

As for me: my M1 Mini and Air are so awesome, I am not in the market for anything until next fall at the earliest.

In fact, this is the cheapest apple year since I bought my first iPod. All of $29 was spent on Apple products in 2021 so far.

Puke if they had to include a notch on the laptop.
This would be very annoying for watching any film, or using any app in full screen mode.
Not really, If you shrink the bezel, add the camera, and incorporate it into the menu bar, you've freed up a lot of real estate. In full screen mode for a movie, you black the menu bar the camera sits in and the movie plays underneath. If the rumor being told here is true, it would still have the proper aspect ratio and you still have more viewing area than today's 16"

That's what they all say (me included). And then an announcement is made. And we capitulate.

oh and its not legacy if the majority of world uses it. HDMI is still mainly used in TV's, projectors and monitors.

ALL TVs and projector have HDMI.

It won't 6 type c ports. Its will be 3 TB3 ports/USB4, hdmi, sd card, magsafe and headphone jack.

People don't want dongles.
So you expect people to lose 1 TB3 port when we already don't have enough Tb3 ports just so that a few people can sometimes use HDMI instead of a ubiquitous HDMI to TB3 cable? read SD cards when CF Express A and B dominate? and somehow we are going back to MagSafe so we can replace the whole brick and cable every 18 months and go right against the flow of charging over USB-C with easy to find cables that have multiple uses?

I know the P in MBP doesn't mean all that much now, but professionals still use them and now have multiple TB3 devices including card readers, external drives, 6k displays, and low latency sound and other media interfaces that all ether require low latency or are just too bandwidth hungry for USB-A and HDMI.

Place your bets! How much of this will be revealed as true, off base, and way off base on Monday?

The new products are exciting. The possibility of an unreliable rumor-mill (remember the last event?) is more so!

If they try to release these MacBook pros with worse external monitor support than the 2016 MacBook Pro 15", I'm out. No purchase for me. They really should push the envelope and support 2x 6K monitors in my opinion.

all high-end Mac laptops had USB-C only since 2016 ...
It's been 5 years since Apple had only USB-C on their Pro laptops and I have yet to a single high end pro Windows laptop that has only USB-C ports.

Here's a fact even to this day no Pro/high end Windows laptop has only USB-C ports.
