Same problem here. I mostly notice it during sleep when my watch makes me wake up. It doesn't happen at times where my heart rate goes below the warning threshold. I also can't find any messages around the time that my watch wakes me up. I haven't been able to find any reason for the random taps.

I gave up wearing an AW with my 2. It needed to charge so often, it wouldn't make it through a whole day, and night. Having your AW tell you 'HELP I'M DYING!!!' doesn't work well when trying to sleep.

I couldn’t wait & bought the Apple Watch 6 this past Spring. Glad I did. I love it. No plans to upgrade. The battery life is fine & I actually kinda prefer the rounded edges to the flat on these leaked pics of the series 7. If the rumored “rugged” Apple Watch version comes out in 2022 I may be tempted to upgrade since I am very outdoorsy. But so far my series 6 has held up well. There was no mention of the glucose monitor in this article, so I am assuming it got pushed back as well. I am sure the 7 will be amazing. For now I am happy with my 6. I was never a watch guy at all. But i love this thing. While going on my daily bike rides, I can keep track of all my vitals like my heart rate plus distance traveled etc. It really is so convenient. I also find myself leaving my iphone in my pocket & just glancing at messages. Makes me feel less addicted to my phone. All in all, a great tool for the active person.

NO PLEASE NO!!! I hate the 'phantom taps' I keep getting. I swear this thing just taps at random moments just to see if I'm still alive/awake. If it were stronger, it would be very much more annoying. VERY much more annoying...

Why does it do that? *TAP* *TAP* 'You still alive? I need attention! Are you ignoring me?!?!'
I killed all "time to move" taps too. It wouldn't let me focus on anything, not even folding my laundry!

I expect a redesign and bigger size. Waiting to see the new colours for apple watch.

Fortunately, my 5 does make it long enough, but only if I turn off the Always on feature of the display. I charge the watch every night before going to bed (don't want to wake up because of the watch dying indeed). I end the day at about 50%. When I enable the Always on display, I end the day at about 10%. Apple really needs to improve battery life.

Always on is nice.

O2 sensor reports like 97-99% every time. If you're healthy with no underlying health issues, I don't think you'd get much value from this sensor.
Agree on the always-on display. I charge my watch every morning and have had zero issues with battery life that would tell me to start disabling features like that one.

On the O2 though, in my experience the sensor is accurate. The S6 has always been within 1% of my doc's (or oral surgeon's etc.) fingertip pulse ox machine. FYI O2 saturation falls naturally while we sleep. I sleep with my watch on, and when I look at my health history over time, there are a lot of numbers as low as 92/93/94 in the middle of the night.

Is cellular worth the price hike if you don’t run and your phone is typically close to you?
You really don't need cellular service for running; the non-cellular watches have GPS and work fine for that. In fact the whole reason I got the watch was so I WOULDN'T have to run with my phone. If you'll always have your phone with you, you shouldn't need cellular at all.

Hmm...

Always on would be a nuisance to me. The Pulse Oximeter would be usable, but by the time one gets concerned enough to think that their PO2 was off, they are likely far into the infection. I've read that COVID infected people have PO2 readings in the 30's, which is really really bad. Too low to have a great recovery. Doctors are astounded at the low lever that people admitted have. Like people walk in, with levels that they think would be nearly impossible. (It must be because of the slow progression of the disease in some people, and how their body compensates for it. They end up, through extreme measures, able to compensate for some of the symptoms) TMI?

If you get Stainless Steel, and a natural crystal in the deal, IMP: Yes. An aluminum AW would not survive time on my wrist. My AW has dents in it. In the stainless steel one! *gulp*

And you get some other function, as I remember, for the expense.

Depends which version you get - buy the Hermes or Edition you don't have a choice. But if you're looking to save money and always carry your phone with you, get the one without.

if you wear the watch do you really have to carry your iPhone?

That again depends on what you want the watch for and if you are happy to have another device added to your monthly payment at your local carrier. I find the watch rather limited in many aspects and could not live without the iPhone.

Yeah I need one that’s door knob proof…

I solved the doorknob / doorframe issue by switching from the aluminum/glass models to space black stainless steel / sapphire (then space black titanium / sapphire) models.

Completely depends on your usage and whether you’ll find yourself changing the “carry my phone everywhere” paradigm.

Even without my runs, I find cellular useful as I no longer drag my phone along when doing yard work, going on walks through the neighborhood or nearby park, etc. Let’s me easily use Siri to set a reminder or add stuff to a to do or grocery list as I think about it, stream music or podcasts, find out the after lunch meeting is cancelled so I needn’t hurry back, and so on.

Looking forward to the new design. Current AW seems so dated looking and out of style in Apple’s current design language.

I would wish that on a new watch, the sensors that measure blood oxygen, they have to be between the two bones in the arm , the radius and ulna, for it to work. Should the area be too narrow, the sensors do not work. However, the heart rate sensors do not seem to be bothered by the location . The wish is that the either narrow the distance between the sensors or move the orientation of the sensors to make that reading.

IF they go the same theory or route on blood glucose, this will be a problem. What I am guessing is that the watch won't measure the BG reading, but relay it from some sensor imbedded in the skin, such as Dexcom6 or Freestyle. Those sensors come off, cost over 300$ a month and medicare only laughs when someone asks if they cover it.

Who knows, I will wait for Watch 8.

Slightly off topic I appreciate, but I would pay good money for an Apple companion "band" that just had sensors - HR, step counter and barometer etc and had a battery life to match. Basically, an Applebit, modern Nike FuelBand. I don't really look at my watch too much when exercising/running etc but I love looking at the data later. Also means I could wear a nice watch watch when stepping out and still have my metrics...

I wish it were that easy. It's not on the hour, sadly... It just wants to play with me... But thanks for the feature I didn't know was there. Maybe I'll set that for the wife? Yeah, I'm evil...👹:p:cool:
It could be psychological. When I stopped wearing an Apple Watch, it took a few months for the phantom tapping to stop. No joke. It showed me just how unhealthy the watch was for me personally.

On a side note, the render of the squared off design looks terrible. The Apple Watch is already not terribly attractive, but a new version with squared edges? Seems a step back.
