While the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are not expected to launch for another seven months or so, there are already plenty of rumors about the devices.

It was initially reported that iPhone 18 Pro models would have fully under-screen Face ID, with only a front camera visible in the top-left corner of the screen. However, the latest rumors indicate that the devices will have only partially under-screen Face ID, which will result in a narrower Dynamic Island area.

Below, we have recapped 12 features rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro models, as of February 2026:

  1. The same overall design is expected, with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes, and a "plateau" housing three rear cameras
  2. More power-efficient LTPO+ displays
  3. A narrower Dynamic Island, resulting from Face ID being partially under the screen
  4. Variable aperture for at least one rear camera
  5. A20 Pro chip manufactured with TSMC's 2nm process and new packaging technology
  6. A simplified Camera Control button with no swipe gestures
  7. Design changes to the rear Ceramic Shield for MagSafe charging, potentially including a more frosted glass appearance
  8. Apple-designed C1X or C2 modem for 5G/LTE cellular connectivity
  9. Apple-designed N1 chip or newer for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread
  10. Web browsing via satellite
  11. New color options under consideration: burgundy, brown, or purple
  12. iPhone 18 Pro Max may be slightly thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, perhaps to accommodate a larger battery

The only satellite that will allow full 5G/LTE via satellite is AST SpaceMobile. FCC documents already show Apple and AST testing the frequencies necessary for this.

There is your alpha if you plan to invest.

Not having to worry about a cell tower is great — but — is satellite technology really that good & what's the latency?

It would be fun if Apple vindicated that hedging by launching them a few months earlier for a change.

Another iterative update year but no huge complaints for me. I'll be skipping this phone after getting the 17 Pro several months ago. Perfect phone for me. Just wish it was black instead of silver.

For the editorial staff, if you want to be technical, so far one part the flood I
illuminator is going underneath the screen. The dot projector and IR camera are not. Face ID is made up of 3 parts. I’m not sure if they will get the dot projector. Doesn’t seem like it.

The regular camera can go underneath screens. Other phones have done it. But it sucks. Apple wants better quality.

I'm tempted to trade in my 17 pro for the 18 pro. It'll still have a good resale value and I'll basically have the same phone but with some upgraded internals. The variable aperture camera (if true) is worth it to me.

We’re going to offer it in three exciting colors: Vomit Green, White plastic yellowed in the sun, and “is that dark brown or faded black?” We think you’re gonna love it 🫶

I'm all for color exploration in the Pro line.* In addition to the rumored potentials listed above, I know one option that would universally be pretty well-received: some shade of black. That option, alone, would likely generate a sales bump. I'll go as far as saying that I suspect Apple intentionally removed that option from the 17 Pro line for a few reasons:
1. They know their Pro audiences, who I'm guessing are those more likely to be enrolled in iUP, will select whatever options are presented to them in September.
2. For the more stubborn minority that decided to go keep their 16 Pro another cycle, simply because they couldn't get the 17 Pro in some shade of black (that user has always selected black), they'll fall over themselves to get an 18 Pro in whatever shade of black Apple offers.
3. The PR/buzz generated from the return of some shade of black to the 18 Pro lineup, would not be insignificant. Every outlet would have that in their article headers. And no matter what other new color Apple released, the return to some shade of black would be the bigger talking point. And that might bode well for what will likely be a spec bump of an upgrade cycle.

*As long as there are also lighter (silver) and darker (black) options. 😉

Edit: stupid fat-fingers.

There is a totally ridiculous rumor going around TikTok and sometimes on Instagram that Apple will replace the USB Type C port with a modified MagSafe connector similar to that on the current MacBook Air/Pro models. I absolutely doubt Apple will do this, because of the current European Union regulation that all cellphones sold since the end of 2024 must use a USB Type C port for charging and data transfer. Besides, even with the USB-IF Power Delivery 3.0 standard, you can charge up to 100 watts charging rate, which is more than sufficient to charge the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and (rumored) iPhone Fold models.

Looks like a solid upgrade from my 13 Pro, so pretty much a day 1 purchase for me come September

Yeah whatever happens I just hope we don’t get a single dot…that’s way too androidy, gross…I think just a smaller island is the way to go until they can do all screen with camera/faceID under the screen…it’ll keep the Apple aesthetic and also prevent Samsung from doing their ridiculous “oh you copied us” ads SMH

I regret the 17 pro, its way too heavy compared to my 15 pro and I still cant get used to it

Think ill be switching to air or fold after this

YEAH so it seems like 18 pros will be even heavier than the 14 pros - I think so far those were the heaviest models…now the Air makes more sense…you want the best of the best you’ll get the pros (and you’ll feel that weight!)…you want less heavy but still capable you get the regulars and you want feather weight you go AIR.

This makes 16 pro max the last of the light pro max’s for the time being, it seems…

Will the 17 Pro cases work with the 18 Pro?

…surely you jest. No way Apple would allow this…$$$ must be made on new cases after all smh
