Love my Mini 6- use it every day... but my guts say that- given lack of just about ANY rumors this late in the cycle- Mini 7 is 2024+, not this Fall. If it shows up early as a surprise, great for all who want one. I'm probably riding this 6 until about Mini 9 or 10 in about 2028-2030.
I plan to do the same. I have 6th gen 12.9 iPad Pro and with these 2, I’m set for a couple of years. I use my Mini 6 everyday, and can’t think of parting ways with it.

The next update should:
  • iPad: Support for Apple Pencil (2nd generation, or whatever is the latest), A16
  • iPad Air: Front camera on the landscape orientation, mini LED, M2, 128GB+ SSD
  • iPad Pro: Front camera on the landscape orientation, OLED, M3, 256GB+ SSD, 16GB RAM, 2 USB-C/TB4
Would love to see this but realistically,

The iPad Mini is likely to get the A16, with the iPad 11 getting the A15

Mini LED is actually probably more expensive than OLED, so unlikely coming to the iPad Air for the 6th Gen, will probably be the same LCD screen unfortunately (which is still high quality tho).

Ipad Pro sounds about right.

The 10th Generation iPad is basically the iPad Air (4th Gen) with a few upgrades. (Though I'm not sure why Apple insists on only giving it Apple Pencil 1 support.) Since removing the Home button, it's very hard to distinguish between these two devices and nothing justifies the $150 difference.

Apple, consolidate these two, remove the 'Air' and just offer an iPad, iPad mini and an iPad Pro model.

I personally would love a base iPad solely for showing artwork to people and potential customers but it only has Lightning instead of USB-C.
I only have Windows computers so USB and internet are the only options for transferring tons of files back and forth.

Its a bummer they can't include C and just give it base USB 3 speed.

I have 0 use for a higher end iPad and the used Pros in the low price of a regular base iPad usually have poor battery life or screen issues.

EDIT: Very out of the loop on the base iPad. I just found out it does have C.
It is still USB 2 speed however.

The iPad Air 4 has a better laminated, P3 colour, anti reflective screen and faster USB C (5GBPS), Apple Pencil 2 and MK support. The iPad 10 does have the landscape camera and centre stage though. Both have the A14 and 4 GB RAM.

I understand. Are these worth $150, though? Does Apple have a warehouse full of Apple Pencil 1's that they desperately need to sell? Otherwise, it makes no sense to keep it alive and they could easily add Pencil 2 attach & MK support by using the same metal case as the Air.

You’re probably right. But if the Air gets the M2, the Mini should get the M1 and the iPad 11 the A16 Bionic. Just skip the A15 and move on.

The iPads don’t need updates. The software does. My 9 year old air can still handle most of this.

They need to be simplified. There’s no reason for this many iPad SKU’s. Make 2 sizes, the Mini and the flagship model, then have a larger/better-features Pro model available too. 3 models…simple to understand.

I feel like currently the person looking to buy an iPad, if you’re not looking to spend the most amount of money, has to do hours of research on their own looking up the internals of each model, the screen resolution and all that. It’s really complicated if you don’t already know everything about Apple.

Still waiting for the Mini Pro. I will never use bigger than the Mini and I continue to be willing to spend extra for it to be a fully capable device and not a afterthought made of leftover parts.

Saying get a bigger iPad is like saying buy a semi truck because you want more horsepower in a sedan.

iPad Mini is the perfect form factor for my use cases but it's DOA every time a new one comes out.

Hoping for an iPad mini refresh announcement on September 12th. Want to get the wife an iPad mini as a Christmas present this year.

I have a 12.9” iPad Pro, which would probably be better for showing off your artwork.

A NAS drive is perfect for archiving data that you absolutely don’t want to lose. Use mirrored drives.

Also in the Files app on your iPad, you can connect to the Windows machines on your network. (Click the three dots, connect to a server.) Type in the ip address of the computer you want to access (use port 8080). Use your Windows log in credentials. It’s simple really.

If you have any problem setting it up, PM me.

iPad mini with an M2 with an optional Magic Keyboard would be very cool.
Ultimate mobile office for those who like to do real work with the smallest possible device on the go.

Apple gives away software in order to sell hardware. They like that you were a customer nine years ago, but they really want you to be a customer today.
It might update 9 year old hardware with many software features but it will run so slowly compared to recent hardware.

I'm all for maximum use time - they make great hand me downs to relatives or friends for further life.
But I also love how these have evolved from the OG one I bought and the tech press said had no market and a stupid name :)

I tried out a several keyboards with my Mini 6, thinking it would be nice to have a keyboard to use with the smallest iPad, but it felt weird and cramped to use a keyboard with the Mini 6. The Brydge keyboard I have for my 6th gen 12.9 iPad Pro, seem more feasible.

I see a lot of people wanting a 120 Hz display on the iPad mini and iPad Air.

Can someone tell me why?
Is it for a practical reason that eludes me - or an enthusiast thing? Maybe because of the smoother animations and things seeming snappier? Maybe for games (where I guess it can be beneficial in competitive circumstances)?

I'm not being facetious here. I have an iPad Pro and while smoother animations are nice, I see no practical benefit of the 120 Hz over 60 Hz with note-taking, document/email writing, photo editing, browsing (this is the closest to seeing a benefit because of smoother scrolling)...

If they added a 120 Hz mini to the Pro line, I feel like that would actually make sense because then the Pro line would cover all sizes of the iPad lineup.

Its because 120 hz screens are bog standard on all Android devices (the smoother animations, scrolling etc u mentioned). Its not a ‘Pro’ feature at all, just normal yet Apple dont include this standard feature on their mid range devices like the regular iphone, ipad mini and ipad air lines.

I wish they'd remove the camera bumps.. it kinda kills the entire line for me, because I heavily use pencil. Only ipad 10 has a keyboard case to alievate these problems (with the removable keyboard part), but it doesn't have stage manager. Air and pro only have the magic keyboard (folio has no trackpad), but either you fold the keyboard and it's too damn tall for comfortable writing, or you take it off, but then you can't place it flatly on the table because of the bump.

And honestly, who the hell needs that camera in an ipad anyway? What use case is there for which the previous 8mp camera was not enough, and justifies making the use of pencil a bloody nuisance?

Clearly some like to have a camera but I'd definitely advocate for the option to order an iPad without.

The prices for the keyboard cases are insane. Then when you upgrade your iPad and the old keyboard case doesn’t fit…

I use an Apple BT keyboard and a MS mouse with my iPad Pro. I bought a $10 case for the keyboard and only take it out when needed.

Some people may use the rear camera for making quick scans or shooting a video. Personally I use my iPhone for that and have never used my iPad’s rear camera. The only use I see for it is an extra $75-$100 dollars profit for Apple and $100 or so perceived value for some users.

Other than gaming, I don't see a benefit for 120Hz. It only increases the cost of the device. Smooth scrolling between 60 Hz and 120 Hz isn't enough of an added benefit, especially on a smaller display, to pay more for it.
