What to Expect From WWDC 2023: AR/VR Headset, 15-Inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio, iOS 17, xrOS, macOS 14 and More

I'm not going to take much interest in anything from Apple until the M3 Apple silicon ships. And, I suspect we won't have a consumer version of the Apple headset until it comes with the M3. The same, apparently, for the Mac Pro.

So, it's M3 or bust for Apple.

That said, I do plan on watching the WWDC keynote and most likely I'll be renewing my developer license for yet another year.
What do you expect from M3? It will be more efficient and more powerful as usual, but not dramatically more than M2.

I’ll tell you how the event goes:

1) Boring predictable product upgrades.
2) Tim touches pinky fingers with Bono.
3) Gimped headset with several flaws appears.
4) Tim does his famous dance.
5) The Apple crowd buy $3999 gimped headset.
6) Headset sits next to iPod Hi-Fi.

Or

6) Headset massive success, zombies walk around with them everywhere. We now live is dystopian nightmare.

The iPhone, within months actually.
And the original HomePod. People are convinced apple never make errors, but the original iPhone wasn’t that great and it cost way too much to be appealing, especially considering the huge limitations (still 2G when the industry was already moving to 3G, no apps). iPhone became a success only thanks to a reduced price and the 3G model.

Apple Watch. Don’t want one, never will. It’s all well and good to have a tech toy on your wrist but I have mechanical watches that live there and they aren’t moving out any time soon. For men watches are one of the few items of jewelry that they can wear. An Apple Watch isn’t jewelry. It’s a fitness tracker.
Try one. Not just a tech toy. You can customize each face with many complications. Add, delete, change. I use these every day, especially multiple alarms and timers for everything from meetings to travel to food preparation. Also have multiple watch faces set up -- just swipe to get a new one -- to provide me with wind and rain reports at a glance, it's fantastic for going out, exercise, and travel.

Finally, the stealth communication abilities: put it in theater mode, and you can get silent notifications about everything, including phone calls, text messages, emails, anything. Do you know how nice it is to never hear the damn cell phone ring or buzz, especially while out? Total game changer.

I said exactly what you did -- until I tried one. I'd try it before you knock it. As for those mechanical watches, they don't hold a candle to the functionality of the Apple Watch, at many, many times the price. But, if you like spending money on them, go for it.

The fact that we probably won't see a new Mac Pro or a consumer headset until the M3 arrives should tell you all that you need to know.

It's going to be more power efficient (much more than we got in the M1 to M2) and will likely add new co-processing features (because there will be "room" for additional things and Apple needs new things to stay competitive). Of course, all IMO.

I'm not able to tune in to the live stream as from start. Any way to start watching from the beginning while event is still ongoing? Thanks
It should be streamed on YouTube, where you can rewind the video as you like. Apple's site stream seems to just go without any way forward/backwards, if you pause you're lagged unless you reload, it's weird.

‘Men’ can wear as much or as little jewellery as they want. Plenty of bracelets, rings etc meant for ‘men’, but honestly just wear whatever you like. Nobody cares if you wear a ‘female’ pendant or whatever.

So if I were to buy this then I'd need to give Apple my eye prescription and buy lenses from them?

Probably will be cheaper buying contact lenses or getting eye surgery than buying lenses from Apple!

"What to Expect From WWDC 2023"

If all the other Apple events since Steve died* are anything to go by... expect disappointment.

*(Well almost all... the M1 chip performance was quite good, but not exactly an iPhone moment)

Apple I wasn’t that great and cost way too much to appeal to consumers.

Apple should announce two things: the headset and the Mac Pro and talk about developers needed for both.

That’s it. Forget everything else.

It might be with the change to 3nm manufacturing. It also should have the GPU architecture changes that just didn't quite make it into the M2. I'd expect a much bigger leap than the M1->M2 change.

Nope. Sorry. I’m not going to be abandoning my watch collection to put some lame Apple plastic on my wrist. And again, wrist watches are jewelry. The functionality is not relevant.

Utterly missing the point. But okay.

I wish they would go back to live presentations and not carefully crafted and edited videos. It feels less personal and even MORE like just a giant ad.
