Getting a bit sunny now where I live, and with this ultraportable machine I like to sit outside. Any change it will get a brighter display? I know Series 2 watch got brighter display, and I assume rMBPs have very bright displays, but I dont know anything about MB12.
that series 2 watch is oled technology and it has 1000nits...so not so high. But the current MBP has around 500nits...so i guess this is where the next Macbook display brightness goes

Sure, why not? A 13.5 or 14" MacBook with space for a second port would be pretty sweet for those who think the 12" screen is too small.

I am thinking, why a 12" cant have second usb-c port? The 12" size is perfect and 12.9 or 13" probably woukld be better but definitely not too big. Otherwise it loses its portability.

Highly doubtful, and I suspect there won't be any updates at all in 2017, unless they do something in time for the holidays (which I would be surprised to see.)

I've been looking to buy a 12" MB, but didn't realize it has the 1st generation keyboard; not sure what the difference between 1st & 2nd is?

Anyway, current prices are still too high considering a 2017 release is near.

Unless there is a significant savings, I'm going to hold out for the 2017 model as I'm hoping for Kaby Lake, and 2nd generation keyboard.

If it were coming this spring, wouldn't it have been released already? Or maybe there would be some evidence of it coming. Maybe you'll have to wait until Fall.

I would say if we don't see anything for WWDC, then its next year and they are going to skip Kaby Lake.... There have been some indications of hardware announcements this year at WWDC, but who knows Apple may turn around and release it silently one of these Tuesdays.

I was thinking that it would make sense to do that at the Fall event like they did last year with the MacBook Pros. For marketing purposes, it would be great to do it at the iphone event, to get the Macbook the most exposure.

Or have them ready before the Back to School promotion, which usually runs from early June to early September. Having a cheaper entry-level MacBook to replace the Air and maybe some free or discounted Beats to go with it could really drive sales.

A cheaper than Air MB is not even remotely likely before next Spring, and at best I'd say they will replace the discontinued MBA at the same price point with last years model MB.

Seems we will get a new 12" Macbook at WWDC with a price cut by 100$ or 200$ ?
Im beting on 100$ cut

Considering it's coming from Mark Gurman, it is a good bet we can expect everything he reported to come to fruition. I got a fantastic deal on a 2016 rMB for a little over half the price of what they go for in Canada, Apple refurb quality, thanks to a company that orders many MacBooks from Apple clearing out excess stock, purportedly for the newer model as per one of their reps stating as much.

^due to the tapering it doesn't look like it would fit. I dunno, maybe they'd squeeze it in

No, I'd say you're right. If you look under the hood, and where the I/O goes, I don't see how they could fit a second port in without changing some stuff around or dropping the 3.5mm jack.

If they introduce the touch bar to the MacBook line (I doubt they will), I'd be very tempted to upgrade my 2016 model.

I really love how you can configure the Touch Bar using BetterTouchTool as it really speeds up my workflow (via iPad + duet display).

yes, i think thats the future, like Apple takes the most useful things from jailbreak tweaks and put them in iOS, now they will do the same in here, i think in next macOS they will take some from the BetterTouchTool

I love the feel of the MBP keyboard but it is too loud for use with other people around (I like the sound but others don't). It feels more mechanical and isn't as personal than the keyboard experience with the 12" MacBook. So i don't mind either really.

The next generation will have Kaby Lake, but I don't know about the second generation keyboard as I think it might be slightly thicker and they may not be able to include it... maybe a variance of it but it may not be exactly the same. Also when they talked about the 2nd gen, they made it seem like it may stay exclusive to the MBPs... hopefully not but I would like it to get quieter.

Personally I would like to see 2 USB-C ports and a Touch Bar model, but I don't expect either of those things to happen.

Hoping the updated MB has the same TB3 capable USB-C port as the MBP's do. Anybody know if the new processor will actually support a second USB-C port? If I understand correctly, the current m processors don't support it.

It's not that they don't support a 2nd port but that it would be confusing.

If you run a 4K display at 60Hz refresh rate on the Macbook on one port, then the other port will have its speed dropped to USB 2.0. This is because there are not enough data lanes.

The situation may not change, either, when processors come out that support a single Thunderbolt 3 because when you use one port as Thunderbolt 3, the other port may drop down to USB 3.0 or even USB 2.0 speed.

In short, only one port can run at maximum capacity at any random time. It's pointless to have two when the other port is botched. You might as well use a hub with the single port because you'll get the same thing anyway.

What do you even need 2 USB-C ports for? In the end, you'll be using 2 hubs instead of 1, so... that seems pointless to me. That's what I'm doing to my 15" rMBP at work. Having 4 ports is really pointless when I need adapters for every single one of them. There aren't a lot of USB-C devices around.
