I hope, but I doubt they will decrease the price so low. Maybe $1,099 and we have a great deal!

I'm looking to purchase an m3 MacBook once they update it, so a price drop would be much appreciated indeed.

Also, not to be annoying, but you use MB instead of GB in all of your specs but the 16GB at the beginning.

Thank you for the MB-GB remark. I've corrected that. BTW the processors won't be named m3, m5, m7, but I used it for ease of reading.

I am in doubt about the pricing too. I also thought about $1,099... but then it is hard to come up with any options that make sense before you hit the more expensive model that can compare to the 2016 base model.

I'm wondering if the changes to the Y-chip line from Intel will affect the line up. As mentioned above the m5 and m7 are being rebranded as i5 and i7 and the m3 and i5 chips have the same list price. I wonder if Apple will move to a single MacBook model i5/256 GB with upgrade options for i7 and 512 GB/1 TB SSD

My 2015 MacBook is going fine; for me to shift to a newer model I would need either a reduction in weight, included SIM card or a solid black colour.
I'm really sick of the grey/space grey/silver from Apple. I want either white of black.

I love my Macbook (early 2016, Gold, m3), it's close to perfect. I don't mind if there are no major updates.

The only issue I have is the thermal throttling I think. The speed is great for my usage but when I plug-in at home (charging and connected to external monitor), after an hour or so it really begins to bog down and becomes painfully slow when launching apps. I'm guessing it's throttling due to the excess heat when charging.

So I hope the new processors are a bit more power efficient and/or maybe Apple will be able to improve the fanless cooling somehow. An extra USB Type-C port would be nice (preferably TB3 but even USB 2.0 would be something). Also, an improvement to the web cam would be appreciated as I use video conferencing a lot.

There's not much else I can think of that would improve the rMB other than RAM/SSD speed and size increases. Maybe even lighter and more battery life always welcome.

It's quite silent about new Hardware at the moment. Only iPhone rumours, but nothing about an updated Macbook or Machbook Pro.

Not sure if this could be a good sign, still hoping for a MBP update in June/July.

Yeah Apple probably has most of their resources focused on this new redesigned iPhone right now. its their cash cow

yes, if they are waiting for late 2017 coffelake it will for sure support @60hz since it will have finally TB3

Looks like the display would work but keep in mind this:
The latest MacBook supports only 4K @ 30Hz and without any kind of HDR support. Maybe next MB with Kaby Lake or Coffeelake will.

Nah, 4K @ 60Hz works on 2016 MacBook. I'm not sure why people don't think it works, but it does.

Just disable transparency effects and it'll run smoothly, too. Or as smoothly as a MBP would drive the same display anyhow.

Note: both the external and internal displays will work at the same time. I'm just driving my MacBook in clamshell mode.

It all comes to what Apple claims officially: https://www.apple.com/macbook/specs/

Graphics and Video Support
Intel HD Graphics 515

Dual display and video mirroring: simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at 30Hz on an external display, both at millions of colors

But if happens to work indeed at 60Hz that's perfect! :)

Getting a bit sunny now where I live, and with this ultraportable machine I like to sit outside. Any change it will get a brighter display? I know Series 2 watch got brighter display, and I assume rMBPs have very bright displays, but I dont know anything about MB12.
