Everyone seems to throw around "useage" as if it's all the exact same...

Sure it's all under one category but battery live varies a TON depending on the type of usage. I've gotten over 8 hrs of usage... listening to music ONLY. And I've gotten a couple/few hours (calculated) usage by having the screen on and navigation tracking while a tracked myself on a hiking trail...

It all counts as "usage" but it's VERY different...

Well said.
Try usage on a graphic intense game like infinity blade for example or any other games like that.
Your phone wont last that long.

Yep. You want really good usage numbers? Put your phone in airplane mode and use it for nothing but listening to music for hours on end. Your usage will be ASTOUNDING.

...otherwise, people need to be very specific about what their usage consists of before complaining about it. and I don't mean just saying "light browsing, some texting, a couple of phone calls..." Try limiting your "usage" to just one of the above. Use your phone for ONLY music one day and screenshot your stats @ say, 50% battery left. Charge overnight then the next day try only using your phone for games. Screenshot your stats @ 50% battery life. Compare. You'll see that different "usages" use different battery power.

I usually get around 6 hours not including music... IMHO the best plan for frets is this:

Resign yourself to battery life being what it is for now. with a new phone you will take more note of these things and probably be using your phone more to boot.

just let yourself be bugged by the battery life for now. it's probably your perception, anyways.

try turning off the percentage and listen to lots of music to drive your usage numbers up.

you might also buy an app like system status, which doesn't give you a whole lot of info about your battery but does give some predicted usage times for different tasks which may or may not be accurate. i'm not sure if the free light version includes this, but i found it well worth the money because of its added features for people who like to obsess over what is going on with their gadget.

I made the executive decision of turning off the battery percentage meter and just enjoying my phone. I have never had an issue with making it through the day on a single charge. I have gone two days standby with 7-8 hours of usage before. I find that not having the battery percentage makes me a lot less obsessive about a 1% drop for unlocking my phone. :D

^This. But alas, I've gone back to displaying the percentage. LOL

About 10 minutes of music over bluetooth.
About 10 minutes of Startracker.
I browsed about 700 photos.
5 minutes of LogMeIn.
Five minutes of flashlight.
The rest was Facebook, Alien Blue and Safari browsing.

Is it supposed to be like this?

That seems rather low but i'm guessing Alien Blue is a game? If so and you played that extensively then that could be about right.

If you hadn't of put what you had used it for then everyone would jump on the band wagon saying thats awful usage.

We wouldn't have to deal with these stupid usage numbers if Apple allowed battery benchmarking apps in the AppStore.
