First smartphone was a blackberry pearl. I actually loved the thing, and it could do the web quite well for what it was at the time.

First phone ever was one of those Nokias with the swappable faceplates. I know there were about two million models, but they were all basically the same damn thing lol.

For a phone from 96 I would say that is rather great...
Tell me about it. The resolution isn't that good, but the color reproduction and detail are very good for ANY digital camera from the mid-nineties. Japan has always been at the head of the pack when it comes to mobile phones. And we're just now getting waterproof smartphones.

This thread is great, brings back memories. The 1st phone I owned was the Star Tac which was so awesome. Went through Razr V3, V3i unlocked, and the Krzr K1 (remember that one?). I used to love modding Motos to enable full rate codec back in the day. Also had a Moto Rizr and LG flip phones. Then the Moto E815 (still in my closet haha- will always love that phone), Blackberry Storm, Bold 9700. HTC Desire at some point. First iPhone was the 4 and have been hooked since.

Started with a motorola flip phone, then LG flip phone, samsung flip phone, and still have my nokia flip phone. I really liked flip phones...

Samsung a870 flip phone 2005-2010 (still worked, it was just time for an upgrade; the vibrator also didn't like to stop when getting a text...)

BlackBerry Storm2 2010-2013 (yes, the giant button of a touchscreen... white screened while downloading BB News; the camera quit working sometime in 2012)

iPhone 5 2013-present (still works great at 19 months old! battery still goes a full day and only needs to be charged overnight usually)

Edit: sorry for the multiple posts. I had trouble adding photos on my phone, and they didn't just combine like usual...

AFTER iPhone, I started using Samsung Focus as my daily driver in Nov 2011. A month before that, I got a Nexus One. But I didn't start using Android as daily driver until late-2012 which is now my preferred platform.

This was the first cell phone I had (way back in 1989)

Beyond those, I've had far too many phones to list :)

What a weird phone. And yes, I had it too (one of the few who had it). It's quite a conversation piece with the antenna that needed to be pulled up and mic flipped down to make and take calls. Oh and the scroll wheel on the side that basically controlled most of the phone. Takes me back to 2000. Can't believe it's been that long.

Yeah, that phone was "high tech" for back in the day! :D I think I graduated from that to a Treo and then BB.

My very first mobile phone was a maxon, then I has one of the tiny Nokia 8210 phones. Man I loved that thing.

My first colour phone was a Nokia and I had a run of Nokia phones until the I swapped to Sony, has the k800i and I think the camera that thing had would stand up against today's top phone cameras. Then the C903. Which was a god awful phones. Swapped that for a Sony W95 which was probably the best non smart phone I've ever owned.

I got an iPhone by accident. I didnt want one but my phone operator at the time had exclusivity on them in the UK so were pushing them hard. They wouldn't budge on the phone I wanted but offered a good deal on the 3G. So the intention was to get it, sell it and buy the phone I wanted. A week after it was delivered I loved it. And have had iPhones every since. The 3Gs, 4, 4s and have had the 5 for two years now.

I used to swap phones every few months because is we a phone I liked more. But in all the time I've owned an iPhone I've never seen a phone that appealed more than the iPhone does.

For me, the following Nokias:

6110
8110
8850
The funny Nokia with the circular buttons, I'll try to find its number
E90

Then an iPhone 4, a 5s, and now a 6 plus. Knowing I had an E90, it should be no surprise that I wanted a bigger phone. :D

Ah, that's right, a Nokia 3650.

I didn't have a smartphone, but I had a silver LG phone (flip, looks like Samsung a870), it had a color screen at least. I also had the Motorola Razr V3 right before I got an iPhone 3G.

My 1st was a 1997 Motorola brick with a flip. Calls sounded horrible!
Went through several Nokias, Samsungs, Lgs, Blackberries and finally to iphone.

We've come a looooong way! I don't miss any of them!

Had a lot of old phones, including the NEC e616v which was massive to accommodate the 3G modem

My favourite though was the Nokia N95. After a few firmware updates, that was a quality handset.

Can't believe I used to use a QVGA screem though, looks trash vs my Note now
