The first Mac I ever owned myself is this MacBook on which I am typing on. The first Mac I ever used as my own computer was a PowerBook G3 that my dad passed on to me. The first Mac that I can remember ever using in my house was a Performa.

Kids.

Fat Mac (512K, System 6.0.3), 1985. Second Apple machine. Hard drives were just getting under $1000 for 10 Meg.

The first being a ][+, 48K, the additional 11" 16K RAM card costing me a cool $200. Floppy was another $200, but the cassette drive was something I already had (Cue tape to prefix tone, type LOAD <enter>. Press "PLAY." Type RUN <enter>).

First pre-built PC was a TRS-80 Model I 4K. More cassette, more manual programming every time you wanted to do something.

First computer was a Heathkit.

Oh, and walked to school in the snow. Three miles. Uphill. Both ways. :p

I bought a Macintosh Classic off of eBay for $35 in 2003, and played around with it for a while. Then I bought an iMac G3 on eBay in 2004, considered dumping my PC for it, but it was just too slow. Finally, In 2006, I received a Mac mini as a christmas present, and finally "switched"

Since then, I've accumulated 4 more Macs/Apple's, but the mini has passed on, replaced by an iBook G4.

My great grandfather really did walk uphill both ways, in a sense. His school was on the other side of a mountain, so he had to walk up the mountain going to school, and walk up it again coming home. :)

Early 06 I got a iBook G4 which was replaced by my MacBook Pro which got a companion earlier this year with my iMac :)

First Mac was a notebook bought in '93 or '94, a powerbook I think???

Sold it a few months later to get a performa636 CD which I had (but wasnt using) until a few months ago.

Ah the memories. My first was the Apple ][e.

Anyone else remember the game Karateka? Oh man, if I could find a way to play this on my computer today...

I recall using the IIe when I was in 7th or 8th grade...

ok, my story is kinda long (and crazy). i'll start off by saying that when i got into computers, i was on a pc. i didn't know hardly anything about macs at all, mainly b/c i was never around one (except when i was like 8, and didn't know it was a "mac")

so, after being a long-time pc user, i was getting tired of windows. i even tried linux a little. when they announced the mac mini, i decided to save up for one. in around march of 2005, i got the 1.42ghz version from Fry's.

near the end of 2005, i ended up selling my pc laptop and getting a 15" G4 powerbook. at the beginning of 2006, i sold my mac mini and bought the first intel iMac 17".

in the middle of 2006, i sold the powerbook and got a macbook. in september i built a pc desktop.

i then bought a mac pro in october. in december i traded the macbook and iMac for a brand new macbook pro. i later sold the home-built pc.

and that's that. i still have the mac pro and macbook pro, over a year later. i just recently stumbled upon a first gen macbook for free, so i currently have 3 macs now
