I’m really looking forward to ai infiltrating all of their products. What little they’ve toyed with so far has sure been — — — —
In the light of the global pandemic and China's lockdowns, at the current climate, it can actually be more economical to have manufacturing in the US. Having your supply chains moving is definitely better than not at all (ie the lockdowns). Opportunity cost.Good to know that U.S. manufacturing will not be more expensive.
In my country, for the price of the 256GB iPhone 14 Plus on sale, I can now get a 512GB S23 Ultra. The price discrepancy of Apple stuff is hilarious.
Yea, and what Apple is actually doing in AI? Cook doesn't even say anything concrete. And correct results from Siri are diminishing.
What about when unions are organized? As a highly skilled manufacturing facility, they can & will stop Apple in it’s tracks. At least foreign governments can be greased. It could be even cheaper in the big picture after all. You have a wildly more predictable supply chain without geopolitical tension nonsense. You have a process you can control and doesn't depend on the whims of tricky foreign goverments.
Maybe Ads that more intelligently follow you from service to service.Yea, and what Apple is actually doing in AI? Cook doesn't even say anything concrete.
Meanwhile, we have Microsoft investing heavily in ChatGPT. Cook's answer seem like an MBA consultant answer, fluff but nothing concrete.
The marketshare speaks for itself. Apple marketshare in many markets like my country is paltry thanks to their overly marked up prices beyond their original intended positioning. Considering we are the largest market in SE Asia, that's quite alarming for a company like Apple. If we had close to US prices, you can bet more people will buy Apple products without hesitations.Markets are pretty good at setting prices based on actual consumer demand. The fact that 512 and 23 are larger numbers than 256 and 14 are irrelevant to asking price. Ditto for GB benchmarks, megapixels, mm telephoto, and other spec sheet items that forums love to compare because they can. I think Samsung and Google make great phones and if Android is your thing you can’t go wrong.
Tim directly answered your question. Crash detection and EKG. I think with health related data, there is a lot you can do to recognize things in the data.Yeah. I chuckled when I read that. Apple talking highly about AI is like a bad joke considering how bad still a decade old Siri is. It's like what AI are they talking about?
Yep. Apple does not do LTS. PPC to Intel was fast and hard, one OS release before being dropped. As was the drop of 32bit Intel systems, they got 2 OS X releases. Ventura's savage cutoffs were no surprise and macOS 14 being Apple Silicon only when it is revealed in a few months at WWDC should not be either. At least alternative Operating Systems are a lot more accessible today than in the past, and the communities dedicated to maintaining old hardware/software compatibility are much more prevalent.Dropping support of intel macs soon is not surprising. They dropped PPC support very quickly after intel transition. They will probably do the same, considering they have transitioned everything (including the mac mini) on the consumer end. The only one remaining is the mac Pro, but for practical purposes, it has been superseded by the mac Studio.
I doubt Apple will bother with LTS version of macOS. They have never done so. Many macs have quite short software support (eg the first intel macs). Apple will simply move.
Well, in my country, the 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 4 is still about $100 cheaper than the 256GB 14 Pro Max.the galaxy fold says hello £1649, plastic display with a crease in it. Mobiles are overpriced by all.
Well, there's no comparison to check his claim. Eg, we can only check his claim if there's an alternate universe where there was no supply chain shortages and no delays on the 14 Pro models.Skillful dodge on consumers not being so interested in the iPhone 14, Mr Cook. Hubris is on point.
seems to me is the only company that can release a product
that works
that is easy to set up
that works over 10 years
that has competent tech support.
that has great earning results
in 2023
I have a "nice" new bike story I purchased today.....
The US doesnt have the work force that china has though. We have the machines but we dont have the people (trained). If we can accomplish that we might have something. In the light of the global pandemic and China's lockdowns, at the current climate, it can actually be more economical to have manufacturing in the US. Correct. I'm guessing the TSMC plant will be mostly robotics with high level workforce from China/Taiwan. There won't be a full iPhone assembly factory in the US anytime soon. The US doesnt have the work force that china has though. We have the machines but we dont have the people (trained). Totally agree, but Apple is not a true luxury company. They are very good at luxury marketing and positioning, but let's not forget their attempt at an actual Luxury product: Apple Watch Edition. It failed twice. But you still upgraded anyway... That's the magic of Apple.
People buy iPhones not because they need a phone, it's because they want the Apple brand. Thus bad economic situations won't affect luxury companies like Apple that badly. This report might "look bad" for Apple, but when we look at the rest of Apple's competitors, Apple is still doing extremely well considering what's going on around the world.
Pretty sure “Lipstick on a Pig 101” is a required course in all modern MBA programs.Yea, and what Apple is actually doing in AI? Cook doesn't even say anything concrete.

Apple also set revenue records for iCloud, payments, and Apple Music.

AI in photography for long exposures, fall detection, spotting health trends, and other useful tech besides a voice assistant to keep lonely people company.Yeah. I chuckled when I read that. Apple talking highly about AI is like a bad joke considering how bad still a decade old Siri is. It's like what AI are they talking about?
