MILTISESSION BURNING as default and easier

This is a must

Other:

Res indipendent OS
Better Speed
Spotlight, Dock and Dashboard enhancments
Yeah that is a good one. I hope for multisession burning too. I think all of your other requests are pretty much certain to be a part of Leopard. ;)

Bump. Now that the first beta version of Windows Vista is out I am sure some people have things to add to this thread.

I'm sure Apple will add lots of random features, but what I'd really like them to do:

Fix the Finder! Please! Pleeeease!
Add lots of polish and uneccesary GUI animations to make it look even better!
Make the GUI totally consistent! Aqua OR Brushed Metal, OR "Plastic"!
Fix the "Zoom" button on windows, it should fit to content, right?! Well make it work in Finder! *sob*
Create any required Vista-crushing features!
And... yeah!

Leopard is either gonna be really EPIC and like WOW... or meh like tiger was... in terms of GUI interface i mean... a lot of stuff from panther was carried over to tiger as we can see...

Yeah, I hope it's not "meh" because contrary to what lots of people are saying, we do need something to take on Vista, as unfortunately it's looking pretty decent. The folder icons showing what's inside is an interesting idea... Is 10.5 actually meant to be a major upgrade? Maybe we need an overhaul to increase the gap between OS X and Vista. With OS X in front, preferably. Heh.

Vista is garbage. The transparency effects are very ugly, everything is made to be extremely complex (so it is harder to use and less can get done for productivity purposes), spyware is most-likely going to be built-in (click here for more information), less necessary features are offered compared to OS X Tiger.

Who would want Vista when we already have Tiger? When Leopard comes out since it is a .5 release (as in 10.5), I am almost certain that it will be a major release (especially since Apple will want to prove that it is well ahead of Vista).

Ok fine. I loff Tiger (*cuddles retail box*). Vista is an overtrasparenciated XP skin, but I can't help worrying that Windows users might actually get to use an "ok" operating system! *grumble* They made the wrong choice, therefore they should suffer! HAHAHAHAHAAAA!

I hope they choose OS X over Vista though because then we will all be happy. :)

That's almost exactly what I was going to say. :p

Oh, and make Mail, you know, not look ugly.

Make OS X installable on any computer.

I don't like this one. It would be a waste of Apple's limited support and R&D resources to support any and all hardware. I would rather have them continue to be the source of all hardware and at least the specifications of the hardware. Besides, Apple builds excellent hardware.

What I would like to see is:
1. More stability and robustness,
2. Continued support for legacy applications and data (Classic),
3. Scaleable system so they can bring out a MacOSX PDA

How about Witch for application windows - have you tried it?

No I haven't heard of it. It looks like what it does is pretty good but I don't like the name of the Application.

Edit: Check out this image:

This is a better solution compared to the Application you showed me. I posted this solution that I created back on page 9 of this thread where multiple people critiqued it. Feel free to read their responses.

I believe you posted it on page 8. ;)
I don't like that application. I would much rather have something similar to ^^^, where it's grouped by applications.

llama :D

Great Idea!

Oh!

Man... I just had to find this thread!

I just had a great idea of a feature that I want to see in the Leopard version of Safari. Ready? I want to be able to take a window full of tabs and in one click (menu option) bookmark each page into a new folder. :D It would be great when you're browsing eBay or Craigslist, comparing products online, actively posting in forums, etc.

I've been wanting this feature forever and every time I need it, I'm heartbroken to find it doesn't exist!

I forgot something too. I am surprised that nobody (including myself) has mentioned wanting maximizing windows instead of zooming windows. Additionally I would definitely like a better way of minimizing windows since it doesn't work too well as it is. I often find myself hiding an Application when it would be better to minimize the window if there was a good way to store it minimized. I have to say that I like Windows way of minimizing and maximizing (instead of zooming) windows better.

that's because bery few macintosh users actually use maximized windows. most like to have overlapping windows.

sounds like a great feature. please tell apple about that, there's a feedback page on their site you know...

Don't get me wrong. If maximizing was available I wouldn't use it 100% of the time. It would be good only for the things that need to be maximized.

i have no trouble at all to maximize my photoshop window by dragging it big enough from the bottom left corner ;) the last thing i'd want would probably be too much buttons for each window - after all, simplicity is one of the biggest strengths of macintosh.

(for example, in real life, it is simpler to have one corner for resize function rather than being able to resize window from wherever. more options mean often more confusion for average joe, and this is a perfect example. after all, you are able to maximize your window when you like, but the system is guiding you not to do so, which is just the opposite when using windows. that system is designed for a single maximized window, and it just sucks.)

I disagree that OS X "stole" features from Longhorn. I think many Longhorn/Vista things were taken from Tiger!

I can see OS X improving in ability to network with Windows machines, and major Safari improvements.

Done.

I'm crossing my fingers on this one. It theoretically wouldn't be that difficult to implement, but would be a huge timesaver.

That was a very good idea to add to Safari.

I would also like Safari to have a feature that I heard Firefox has. Firefox opens the program where you left off when you closed it last. As far as I know it basically means that all the web page windows that you left open when you closed it will be reopened the next time you open it. I am assuming that it uses the cached web pages, but if it isn't then I hope Safari supports this feature in the future and leaps ahead of Firefox in the category.

What I would like:

1. iCal to be a fully functional calendaring program, not one from the 80's (example: auto set option of alarms for the love of God.)

2. Same goes for Address Book

3. More options for smart folders in Mail

4. Boolean search in the Spotlight GUI

5. Spotlight to give us the option to search in the Trash and deleted folder of mail.

6. iSync to go back to one interface and you don't need to keep iSync open at all times to sync all of your devices.

7. Consistent GUI.

8. Layers or sheets on the Dashboard. So I can have a game page, info page, etc, when the Dashboard is active. Especially when using a laptop, even a 17er, you fill the screen full of widgets pretty quickly

9. More screen savers and desktop images. Yes, I know they are just eye candy, but it adds to the fun of getting a new operating system. Sometimes the sizzle is as important as the steak.

10. Get .mac syncing to work reliably

11. Resolution independence

12. Tabs in iChat for the love of God. And have iChat remember the last location of windows

13. More codecs for Quicktime. I don't mind paying for the pro version, but have everything format playable in Quicktime so I don't have to deal with that POS MS product

14. Did I mention that iCal and address book need major updates? Seriously, those programs are an embarrassment at this point.
