What will Apple call the next iPhone?

But you are dead on in this case. no WAY they will release 4g next. 0 chance.

unless of course the next iphone update is over 2 years away... doubtful...
 
95% it's going to be called iPhone 3.0


There is really no other name they can call it. They won't call it iPhone Classic or iPhone Pro unless they have 2 iPhone models.


Also, with every new iPhone, we will see a new firmware set. So i'm down for iPhone 3.0
 
I think Apple might keep this iPhone 3G as a basic without front-camera maybe improved back camera, and introduce the iPhone Pro :D with front-camera and higher resolution back camera along with other high-end features.

Yeah, I kind of agree.

I can imagine it now with Steve Jobs (looking even skinnier and grayer than before) announcing:

"Today is a special day. For 2009/2010, we're re-introducing our favorite Apple product.. iPhone 3.0! It's the start of a new decade, and we want to make sure business users and regular consumers will be able to use the best technology possible."

"..for a long time, we've been told to add in certain features. For instance, video-recording capabilities. Well, today we've addressed that with software update 3.0 which will be available for free to faithful iPhone 3G owners via iTunes 9.0 when that ships tomorrow morning."

"3.0 software update for a 3.0 iPhone. Perfect, isn't it? *sigh* So, just how is video going to look on this thing? It rivals HD-quality. Well known companies like Casio, Sony and Kodak all failed where we will succeed. All in a slim package.."

Sorry, couldn't help myself for a second there! :p

Probably just iPhone or "the new iPhone". Or iPhone ____ (insert next great technology...)

OR

iPhone Copy Paste

iPhone MMS

iPhone ___ (insert lacking feature)
etc.

also because it will be the Third iphone :)
 
They could just call it iPhone like they did with the first 5 generations of the iPod... That seems perfectly reasonable as the "3G" part isn't used extensively on the packaging etc
 
naaa, they gonna go with a tie-in to the new cloud play. Something to match the .mac replacement. Maybe, Mobile Phone... or not.
 
Well Apple's naming scheme isn't exactly the best. They go from iPhone, to iPhone 3G, and about 70% of people who know nothing about technology or phones think this is the 3rd iPhone.

So who knows.
