Where have you been? Since Day 1, it was announced that the phone would require a 2 year agreement.

thanks for answering the question...clearly if i'd been here I wouldnt have asked

so the answer to your question is not here.

anyway, I was wondering if it was necessary b/c i just got a new contract w/ cingular in january so i'm not really interested in another, but if there's no way around it then i'll pass on it. if there is though i'll get one

ya know since you haven't been here...they have this crazy thing called a search function. See what it does is: if you haven't been here every second of the day you can go back and find ANYTHING you want that's already been discussed a trillion freaking times!!! novel idea huh? maybe you could try it out, rather than adding to the ridiculous amount of forum spam thats already all over this forum.

I spoke with them specifically about the "upgrade eligibility" issue the other day. There's only one price, so the "eligibility discount" is moot, and the 2 year agreement starts when you purchase the phone. see: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=314198

Maybe an administrator could start up a sticky post with some common questions :D

And your nine posts to the forum have been so overwhelmingly constructive and enlightening, adding much to the rich tapestry of MR and the enjoyment & edification of it members.

Yes, it has been discussed a great deal, but the forum search is less than completely helpful. How about a novel concept: when a member posts a question that has been answered a "trillion times" rather than adding unnecessarily to the thread, why not just answer the question briefly and let the poor thread die a natural death?

    Glass houses, and all that...

A bit harsh, eh?. Especially since the search feature on this forum isn't really the greatest..

be that as it may, you dont even need to use the search function to find the answer to this question. it's probably been answered at least three times just in the first page of the iphone section. and yes i may have only made 9 posts here, but at least i know the number one freaking rule of any online forum.

and at least my 9 posts have only been in already open threads. I don't make new useless posts about the same topics clearly visible on the front page

    From http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:Forum_Rules:

Nothing mentioned there about a due diligence search before posting, nor anything about dumping on folks who may be new to the whole scene. You may be thinking of another forum.

For jayeskreezy: Yah, the search here bites (as it really does in most forums), but you might try spending a little time perusing the forum topic-specific sections. Generally, the thread headers are (mostly) descriptive, but if you can't find specifically what you're looking for, go ahead and ask.

The main thing to remember, as is with all future Apple products, is that nobody on any forum will likely have an absolute answer beyond official communications from Apple (and in this case, AT&T). Just keep 'em peeled, and if you get anything with a logo or exec's signature on it, post it here first! (gotta keep ahead of AI!) ;)

D'oh! Spent most yesterday responding to a bunch of June 2007 members, didn't notice you've been with us a little longer than that. Guess I was preaching to the choir...
