Apple will use them for replacing devices under warranty/AC
I'll be this is a product that is never available refurbished
Then why would they sell any product as refurbished when they can just scam people and say it's brand new?
Laws. Consumer protections. They got in some trouble for refurb units a while back so that process is now under intense scrutiny. Then why would they sell any product as refurbished when they can just scam people and say it's brand new?

Apple will sell them as refurbished. It is illegal to sell open packaged items as new.
California. That’s why Apple has the refurbished store.Illegal where? Under what law?
Amazon sells opened and returned products as new all the time.
All these returned Vision Pros? I doubt there will be that many.
Why are you asking questions that nobody but Apple has the answer to? We'll see soon enough.Does this mean we will see 'refurbished' Vision Pros soon or do they repackage them and sell them as new?
Why wouldn't they? They sell refurbished watches, they even sell refurbished AirPods. It usually takes a few months but I see no reason they wouldn't eventually also have these in the refurb store.Apple will use them for replacing devices under warranty/AC

I think historically, it’s usually taken a gen 2 of a new product category to be out before Apple puts the gen 1 in the refurb store. Why wouldn't they? I vaguely recall the first Apple Watch being that way.
Ah, I didn't realise they don't usually refurb 1st gen stuff. I never buy 1st gen Apple hardware so I guess I've never really looked for it in the refurb store.I think historically, it’s usually taken a gen 2 of a new product category to be out before Apple puts the gen 1 in the refurb store.

That's fair, but it's also unusual that they come out with the "Pro" version as first model, so I suspect this might not follow their traditional product lifecycle. It also makes me wonder how compromised the non-Pro version might be if this is the premium one. But I'm not getting one anyway, so it's not a big deal.I'm not sure they will see it as super desirable to have a ton of these AVP v1's out there, to the point where doing refurbs makes sense.
Sorry, I should have clarified -- I think AVP models will be refurbs at some point, but I'm skeptical this v1 model will.
If we're being honest, it's a dev kit that really shouldn't have been a full blown customer release at this time (at least in my view)

Maybe if they get a gaming story fleshed out they'll go downmarket to try to steal from the Quest marketshare?
It seems fairly "un-Apple" though to gimp something like this with lesser displays.
It doesn't seem like there's any room underneath the "Pro" for a normal AV -- at least not right now I guess.
