The iPhone 4 is a new hw design, running new SW on a network (AT&T) with known problems. Most of us pre-ordered this sight-unseen. Did people really not expect some issues? Also, $2-300 is not really the 'fortune' the dramatic people make it out to be..

I spent $50K+ on a VW Toureg a few years back that would just completely die electrically on-the-road, only to reboot itself and come back to life a few minutes later.. 10 times at the dealer, they never fixed that.. and I never got anything free from VW.. So people need chill out.

Wow so much that is wrong here....first of all, AT&T has NOTHING to do with this. Second, just because we preordered a product sight unseen, does not mean that we shouldn't expect it to work as promised  Third, 2-$300 is not the price of the phone. That is subsidized and part of why are locked in for 2 years to a contract. Get it straight. These are 6-$700 phones.

And finally, your telling me that you bought a $50k vehicle that had a major issue that the dealer tried to fix 10 times and you just let it go!?! Does this absurdness even warrant a comment? I've got 2 words for you: "lemon law", and by the way, they only need to try to fix it 3 times to qualify for that....you got had, badly. Your attitude is beyond comprehension to me

There's a setting for video playback to start where you left off.

settings/ipod/start playing/where left off

Yeah, I know, and I have it set to do that. It's not that it goes back to the beginning of the video when I reenter the iPod app, it's that it won't go back to the video at all. It takes me back to the screen displaying the playlist that contains the video. If it's a small playlist, that's OK (though still annoying), but the one I've been listening to is a smart playlist by 1 artist and it's a couple hundred songs/videos long. I don't have time to scroll through the whole stinkin' thing looking for the video (though on the 1 occasion I did and selected the video, it did play where I'd left off.)

I just don't get why that changed from 3.1.2 to iOS4.

Bummer about the frustrations with VW, but I'm in the same boat, 4 vw's in my driveway.. so I get the quirky thing

Certainly, if you wanted a 99.99999% reliable experience on a iPhone, you should pick up the 3GS 8GB and run 3.1.3. In my opinion, for what it's worth.

the honda civic of iphones.. haha.

That said, I'm perfectly happy with my iphone 4 with bumper on, I just feel like I got screwed by purchasing it for 30$ since they seem to be giving them away to people left and right now.

That is odd. I do have a "now playing" button during music playback. Not sure about video though.

Yep, that's how the lemon law works, they can't fix it 3 times.. new car. why didn't I realize that.. how stupid of me..

When did Enthusiastic Early Adopter morph into Whiny Malcontented Impossible to Please Child. Apple will put out a firmware fix that will at least help, if you're not satisfied, they'll sort you out in someway. These Misérables are not giving Apple any time or room to resolve the issues. Just chill out. And if that doesn't help, I'm sure your mom give you some milk and cookies, and after a nap you'll feel much better.
